View Full Version : Will we get a mounted caster? More ranged?

We do have knights so it would be common sense, I would think.
Also, what about a mounted crossbow unit of light cavalry? They had those in the middle ages and we seem to lack that in our army....single target ranged attacks.
Or maybe a dedicated ranged unit that uses Pavise and lights their arrows/bolts on fire? Very stationary but massive armor for the pavise shield and either move or shoot, not both.

Actually mounted crossbowmen was not common.
I would like to see us get Idrian light cavalry - on camels! Idrians are already decent at melee and good at range, and are lightly armored. they make the prefect candidate.
Equally so, I'd expect (or like) to see in the future Cryx get Bane Cavalry (since they have light cav now), Cygnar get Ranger Light cavalry (same idea as Idrians), and Khador get Kossite light cavalry.
I think slow, mobile arror shelters like you describe could be an awesome Weapon Attachment for the Knights Exemplar. Give the model and models in base to base with it Cover. Three of these WA's could grant cover to most, if not all of the unit.

Wow, that WA idea would be sweet!
As far as Idrians...I hate them, I just like the armored guys. :p

I really like that WA idea as something that would be assignable to any Protectorate unit, like the Retribution Soulless. It would not be a part of the unit, as it would tend to break the KE.
It's very themey for our faction. All denial and protection buffing.
Can never have to many Idrians!

I think this could be a WA for the KEE only as they are stalwart and shooting crossbows from a defensive position.
My other dream is for a super-cool Exicutioner (a la Reznik) who would be a WA for any Exemplar unit. The fluff would be that they would be his escort, guiding him to where he needed to go on the battlefield. He would not have the unit abilities except AD (like the Soulless) and models in the unit could redirect attacks that target him to themselves. Meanwhile he'd be a killing machine. The fluff would be cool and the concept flips the idea of attachments on their head. The unit would attach to him instead of vice versa.
SPD 6, MAT 7, Reach, DEF 12, ARM 17, 5 wounds, P+S 13 weapon master with Prey and Purgation. He would also have Granted: Tireless Pursuit - Models in this unit may run even if they began their activation knocked down. Models in this unit may run even or if an enemy effect prohitits running.
He'd be fast enough to keep up with a fast Venger escort or could slog in with Bastions. He could also follow an enraged unit of KE charging up the table as their brothers fall.
A relentless killing machine!

I've long advocated a sort of Lawrence of Arabia-esque character for a Warcaster... think of a Sulese Exemplar or Paladin, assigned to bring several anti-Skorne Idrian tribes under one banner for the benefit of the Protectorate, who sort of "goes native" and starts to fight like they do. "Lorenzo of Idria" or somesuch.
Think of a Warcaster who specializes in Idrian warfare, the art of desert ambushes (target friendly model/unit gains Stealth for one round), hit-and-run tactics (target Warjack in Lorenzo's battlegroup gains +2 SPD, Pathfinder, and Sprint [UP:yes]), a denial Feat (Stone Blood: For one round, enemy models in Lorenzo's control area suffer -2 SPD and suffer a POW:14 damage roll if they make an attack or perform a *Action. ), some kind of ornate high-powered rifle and a magical Kopis or two.

That would be neat.
I thought of inquisitors when reading your idea. Maybe Inquisitors could be a U/A or W/A too, more priestly and buffing/debuffing as opposed to pure carnage.

Camels are actually pretty heavy animals and aren't really the swiftest. I think idrians riding light arabian horses would work better.

But horses hate camels and were known to cause them to panic. There could be a rule to allow them to interfere with other cavalry or make them less likely to get charged by them....maybe terror to other cav and a bonus when receiving a charge from them?
Oh, but wait...I am not advocating Idrian cav...I like EXEMPLARS!!!
