They seem very pricey for what they do and seem way too squishy to ever succeed.

I use them for the aoe cloud effect pretty often in an ESevvy list.

lol, so how did you use them? Did they hid behind the TFG or zealots?

Min unit fo them make me winner 2 last games. Very good unit by the way. Why? Cool special attack and... spray... fire... and most funny - last game my opponent ( everblight ) concentrate all the fire on them, so all my other army came to CC undamaged.

I use a Min unit on the flank. Walk them up and special attack your own guy to place the cloud to prevent being shot/charged.

They don't work with every caster, but they have been fine for me. They can clean off your engaged 'Jacks.

Also you can spray thorough your own Zealots on their mini feat turn, then take off the fire with Rhoven or E-Feora.

just sit them behind a unit of TFG or KE etc, when your front line gets charged, stand still for aiming bonus and Fry everything :)

I use a min unit as a flank holder. Their incinerate order can be very useful for targetting and hurting light flankers like light warbeasts or cavalry. For targetting infantry, they're brilliant as you can position your own figures as targets to make sure you get as many enemy gigs under the template as possible.

I'd consider a max unit but I only own 6 :)

I use them in a list I call, "Say It With Fire!"

eFeora (-6)
Redeemer (6)
Vanquisher (8)
Temple Flameguard (max + UA) (8)
Flameguard Cleansers (min) (5)
Exemplar Errant (max) (8)
Paladin of the Order of the Wall (2)
Covenant of Menoth (2)
Vassal of Menoth (2)
Total: 35

If I know I'm going to be facing a non-Menoth brick, I switch the number of Cleansers and Errant.

I had a unit take out a unit of window makers once last time I used them. granted I got a little lucky with the rolls, and I made sure the widowmakers were busy saving his jacks form my knights exemplar, but it with all those spray templates each catching two it worked really well.

I find the list to be lacking in single-heavy-killing department. And, it lacks the awesome Avatar.

You're right, it does. But this list is mostly meant as a Feora delivery system. Anything that can't survive the massive fire output is dead, and anything that can is going to get bogged down while Feora fire-steps around it, and granting an extra focus on the feat turn. But I put the Avatar in the 50 point version. Along with the choir, so they have a proper support network.

I use a min unit of FGC's. I love the incinerate order. I've burninated so many things. Lighting stuff on fire is always fun. Since the new spray templates ignore the in combat deal, that makes them actually great with my stuff. I like bringing them with Sev for the Eye of Menoth and boosting damage like that. Feora and eFeora love them.

There are stunts you can pull with the Castigator since it has immunity: fire. You can run the cleansers behind it and spray through it. Order: Incinerate the Castigator. Get a cloud around him after you combust. You can also use a Repenter. Great jack, but you only get 1 spray for 4 pts vs 6 sprays for 5 pts. I've cooked so much with the Incinerate order. It's awesome and nasty...

I will use them when the MKII cards are released. If I remember correctly their combined range attack got better in MKII.

Do you realize that all the rangd attacks from legion beasts cause fire based damage? And thus cannot harm your cleansers?

Reading your post, it doesn't seem so, but I may be reading it wrong.
