What can i do? These guys are all undead and scary, i have a needle gun and can not use any of my gun abilities. Arkadius is proving very tricky for me indeed, perhaps my first game shouldn't have been with him(for thornfall).
Any tips?
Also does his Psycho surgery heal the good Dr as well?

my suggestion is keep the good doctor away from melee combat. Also Psycho surgery heals every friendly model in his control group that includes units as well as the good doctor.

Sorry Bob of Doom

Psyco Surgery - "Each model in this model's battlegroup currently in it's control area . . ."

Battlegroup - "A warlock and his assigned warbeasts are collectively referred to as a battlegroup."

It does heal the Doc and his beasts, but not anyone else.

Fire4effect: What's your list look like? Bob is right on about keeping the doctor out of harms way. Even if you're going up against beasts and living peoples you don't want to lean too heavily on his combat abilities.

well i think that's where the problem lies i have nearly 350 pts of cygnar, but my pigs i got(at an amazing price of $25(used)) is a measley 13 points.
I have
Arkadius
Carver
Warhog
Gunboar
and 2 Razor backs crews.
It looks like Pygnar, and i realize once i get more i won't be so hindered but seriously it felt like Arkadius couldn't do anything. Thoug Crip grasp on a forced evoloution pig with the dial turned up was pretty sweet.

I've played a few games with Arkadius, and his primary problem is he requires an inordinate amount of complexity and finesse. In most games I don't ever get to use the needle gun; and his Mad Science list is really where its at. 3 War hogs is the first step on the road to a happy Arkadius.

Ohh, yes. You need more meat. Most Arkadius lists have at LEAST 3 Warhogs, since he does so very well with them.

If your feat is to make your beasts frenzy, be sure to have the best possible beast you have at your disposal!

Ah, here's your first problem. You shouldn't normally be using the needle gun on ANYBODY EVER. Rarely, it may come up that it makes some sense, but if you're needling something then something is usually wrong. Arkadius belongs away from the front lines, he's not a melee guy. You play Cygnar? Pretend he's Nemo. And yes, Psycho Surgery heals Arkadius too.

I've used his needle gun exactly once, when I thought it would be funny to make a Warpwolf kill its own warlock. It failed, so I killed them with a War Hog instead. If it had been a situation where I needed that tactic to work, Arkadius would have been dead.

Here's the second problem, you haven't got a suitable army for him. As Prismatik pointed out already, Arkadius runs on War Hogs. One War Hog (even backed up by a Gun Boar) is completely insufficient. It's barely enough to even generate his Fury. Even if he wasn't a beast oriented guy I'd be feeling uncomfortable taking just two beasts with him, or really almost any warlock.

A typical Arkadius list takes about 3 War Hogs (using his Tier bonus to make them cheaper). This might change slightly when we get more beasts, but for the foreseeable future you want to stock up. I'm planning to pick up a 4th and I'm trying to convince myself I don't need a 5th one. If I can make it until the new book drops I think I'll succeed as then we should have more beast choices.

As long as I'm here, I may as well point out that you haven't really got enough to make a reasonable Carver list either. With him, you're going to want a full unit of Brigands (maybe two), and probably two War Hogs.

Here's what I would recommend for your next purchases:
1. Two more War Hogs (if you can't afford that, at least get one)
2. A full unit of Brigands
3. Rorsch & Brine

To help get up to speed on how to run him, look in the Minion Lists subforum for a thread titled "The Arkadius Chronicles". It has a bunch of my thoughts and games documented and should be useful reading.

I am currently running this for a 15 point list and it is damn good.

Carver
War Hog
War Hog
Brigands (min unit)

I would suggest going with that at 15 points and growing from there, and as everyone has stated if you want Arkadius go with 3 war Hogs.

Yeah, Ark needs more Beasts...

Though Primal Shock is a good "Anti Cryx" spell. Zap those pesky incoporeal models near your warhogs.

Very true. Primal Shock is great against Cryx with their squishy solos. Hey Skarlock, eat THIS!

Yeah, for myself, in the last game I played Arkadius and charged an angelius with him just so I could say I'd used the needle gun. If I hadn't, I probably would have won the game instead of getting assassinated immediately after.

The needle gun is for emergencies only - I find myself hoping that Targ can be Arkadius' personal melee buddy, able to spend the Doc's fury on attacks, perhaps, because against undead and/or jacks, the good doctor is totally boned.

The fact that you can cast it even if your beast is in melee is great. War Hog goes in, does damage, Primal shock clears out annoying models nearby.

He has Weapon Master, so potentially he can be.
