Hey there, I'm thinking about trying out Monpoc, but until recently had been turned off by the collectible aspect. I just recently looked back to see whats new about it and saw the DMZ faction boxes coming out. This is great but doesn't satisfy everything I'd need to play off the bat so I'm considering picking up the 2 player starter. Though I'm a seasoned minis game player (WM, Hordes, 40k Etc...) I'm going into this one more like a casual board game kinda think. That being said, I'm still worried about the random aspect the 2 player starter still has. There are a couple of factions I just have no interest in owning or playing (Shadow Sun Syndicate for one). My question is, is there a way to know the factions included by the box or serial number or whatever? If not, are there at least set combos of factions that I can expect? If not again is there another way to get somethibg I'm comfortable with while still getting all the dice, buildings, maps, etc that are required to play out of the box without breaking my bank?
This is a tough game to get into. But I'm very interested and motivated to do so, just don't want to drop 50 bux and get something I'm not happy with.
Thanx guys.

I don't believe there is anything you can guess or gauge about the 2 player starters. There was a guy on board game geek and maybe teamcovenant that was acting as a "proxy" for trading the 2 player starter armies. Check out the trading forums on teamcovenant seems like there is a little bit of 2 player trading going on.

Team Covenant can certainly get you one with the factions that you are interested in. If you want you can go to the contact page (http://teamcovenant.com/store/contacts/) and send us a message. We can help you out.

Thanx for the information. I checked out the Team Covenant forum and saw a bunch of battle box trading going on. And I checked out the packages too... Very cool concept. I'm leaving for Origins tomorrow morning and was thinking about seeing what the dealers have out there. If I end up with a battlebox with lousy factions I'll probably try some trading. If not maybe I'll see if team cov can hook me up with all I need. This info made me feel a lot better about getting into Monpoc. Thanx!

That would be me. There's a thread on BGG with my current stock. The only catch is, you pay shipping both ways and add $5 for the service, so if you're not in the U.S., it's not going to be worth it to you.
But you do get to trade me anything you don't want for anything i have.

I'm pretty sure the "no commerce" clause from the old board is still in force here. It's a legal liability thing, I'm not going to lock or start deleting yet, but take it to PM.

To the OP: I noticed where you were approaching Monsterpocalypse as a casual board game. I think it can be fun to play with friends with a beverage of your choice, but I think you'll find that the game can be complex as most of the table top games you play, if you dig into it. That is just one of the awesome aspects of Monsterpocalypse - it can be as complex and challenging as you want to make it.
