Just to feel out the waters, I'm going to try this out today

Grim +6

Axer 6
Impaler 5
EBDT 10

bushwhackersx6 5
burrowersx6 4

Thumper 3

totem hunter 3
bog trogsx6 5

Key goals:

turn 1 rush on thumper, and having it run, getting the cannon to the 20" mark. a rat 7 on feat turn isn't too shabby. May be used to clear a path to caster. Feat, and mark to let the army take down the caster

EBDT is there for melee support. I originally was going with the blitzer, but the random shots seemed like overkill on feat turn. His threat range is still disgusting with the axer and some rough terrain involved

the trogs are the only real question. I can trade them for beefed up burrowers and bushwhackers, or grab another of either unit. I'll have to see what tactically works the best

edit: darn it, forgot the axer was 6

Theres no better type of kill than overkill!

swapping the earthborn for blitzer *and* a gobber could be sensible overkill too :)

Okay, I managed to get a game in with the list vs mk II butcher. By turn two, I had a thumper sitting behind a forest shooting jacks thanks to cross country. I ended up running out of steam, and will need to be a little more conservative with fury usage. I'll try to post a battle report once I get a game in where I'm a little more comfortable with the rules. The major takeaways were:

-min unit of bushwhackers is not quite enough of a threat. They can at best ping one model a turn, unless you want to get the aiming bonus. edit - they still managed to disrupt though, they just aren't necessarily very scary to high def or high arm models.

-the new thumper is pretty good, as long as you run him forward early. With a rat of 7, he managed to keep beast 09 out of the game

-burrowers should either be used to distract a unit, or popped up on feat turn to ace a lower armor caster. Marked for death can really help them out as well.

-feat turn is amazing, especially vs khador. 1" moving jacks are very easy to avoid. Marked for death can also be used on a caster in relative safety

-the totem hunter is a pinball now. If you can get him within 10" of his prey, you can get a 14" advance, two attacks, and an additional 9" move if you kill something. Eep.

-the snare gun only affecting beast/jacks was a bit painful. It is a nice tool, just different from before.

I lost turn 2 to Grim + burrower combo last night playing a beast heavy Legion army with Vayl.

Brutal...

I want to try a variation of your list.
Grim - 6
Axer +6
Impaler +5
Blitzer +9
Bushwacker max +8
burrowers min +4
Thumper +3
Swamp Gobbers +1

last 5 points, i'm torn between Horthol or a 2nd min unit of Bushwackers.
Opinion?
