So I got my first 3 games in with Circle today. I took three argus becuase the gorax I had ordered wasn't in yet and now I am considering not even using the Goax as the argi :) did absolutely great. Much better than I expected. The pthfinder and hunter animus was awesome! In fact the only game I lost I would have won if I had remembered that hunter allows me to ignore trees for LOS (and thus letting my warp wolf charge my opponents warcaster). On the actual hitting power I found them very good. The combi bite for p+s of 16 served me well and I was able to kill a number of solo's and key models easily. One item, I was playing pkaya and I found the +2 to hit really useful with them with their reletively low mat, do other warlocks have the same synergies with them?

I'm also more impressed with the Argus in MkII than in MkI. Especially since the Argus is way prettier than the Gorax, and now the Frenzy is kind of a big deal.

I haven't used them with any other caster yet, but given that they have MAT 5, they clearly wont be as useful. However, with their Animus, they're still way more useful than in MkI, so it's kind of a wash. But, obviously, pKaya is beast caster ++.

I hope she doesn't change :\

Don't forget the Gorax's animus can raise that Mat to 7 (with associated problems - frenzy). This does mean that they are still good with other characters (E.Kaya, Baldur and Kromac especially).

The problem is that it is hard to control an Argus frenzy. You can't just point him in a direction and let him charge. He has 360 vision so he does really go after the closest model. So you have to either tie him up when you primal him or make sure you don't have anything closer then your opponent and he still gets an opportunity to get out of the way.

I've seen plenty of new players lose games to running a warpack hot and then choosing to let the Argus take the frenzy check instead of a Gorax or Feral. Only to have the argus fail and turn and eat the caster.

The Fieldtest Argus is really sweet.
Animus is great and the +1 to DEF helps.
I'm glad I own 4

I own 3 but... Its mostly there for its animus. Thus I cannot see a use for more than one.

When Circle 1st came out, I bought 2 battle boxes...mostly for the 2nd Warpwolf.

One of my favorite lists to run at low point games (especially 350 Tooth and Claw events) was a pKaya/Argus spam assassination list. fun fun

I always saw the problem with the original Argus was with it's Animus being so weak compared to other 'beasts; but that the rest of it was good for it's points.

High SPD,360 LOS, and combat options with Combined Attack and Bark always appealed to me.

I've been tuning up the Argus Cruise Missle list using eKaya. Let me tell you, an Argus with Arcane Killer and Forced Evolution will kill just about any enemy beast with Dogpile on it.. I run eKaya, 4 Argus, Woldwyrd, Feral Warpwolf and a sprinkle of infantry to fill my points.

The Arguii are 3-4 turns of targetted mayhem happiness. I leave all the FURY on them and let them frenzy the next turn. Then if they live, I can force them all over again.
