Best way to spend 5pts?

Right, I've started Retribution and started picking up my models. got myself 30pts so far in

Kaelyssa
Chimera
Griffon
Gorgon
Phoenix

Mage Hunter Strike Force + UA
Mage Hunter Assassin

Now this puts me 5pts off a standard list size so I was wondering how you'd spend those points, I was thinking Eiyrss for 3pts and those other 2pts on another MHA, but then I lack Arcanists and they will be useful with this many Myrmidons. Such a dilemma, more killy or support...

With four jacks I'd definitely take at least one arcanist if not two, if for nothing else, then for repairing the eventual damage. A soulless escort may be useful for your MHSF+UA, to help them survive against magical threats better (makes arcing spells even more of a PITA against the stealth unit, and lets you kill upkeeps on it).

A soulless escort is a waste of points on MHSF. They have to get within 5" anyway. Reducing the range by 5 on most spells makes no difference. Points better used elsewhere.

If you're wanting to run that many jacks, then two arcanists, for sure. The last 3 points could be used on Narn or either form of eiryss. I prefer eEiryss, as she's a bit more versatile against both games.

Actually not true. You can place whiplash on them and when people go to get their arcnode within 5'' and not close enough they get hit by the spell.

But he's also pretty easily picked off. A full unit with stealth can't screen him. He really is just waiting to get shot.

He ought to be back pretty far from the front line though. Like... 9 inches back. If they are close enough to shoot him then the whole stealth issue doesn't really matter because they are on top of your Strikeforce anyways.

Firstly are you going for tiered lists?
even if you're not it'd be worth sticking to their options (IMO they work well with Kael)... so any of Arcanist, Ghost Sniper, MHA, Eiryss, Narn, or even Nayl.

Running multiple jacks I'd highly suggest atleast one Arcanist, and then a mix of whatever else you like the model of... cuz that's all it should really come down to.
That said, looking at your list I'd highly suggest dropping one of those jacks (the gorgon or the chimera), and pick up some more of the solos to play with. ;)

Your plan seems reasonably solid. The solos help with threat saturation.
Though I still think you'd be better off dropping a jack and picking up something else - Gorgon for Eiryss and another Ghost Sniper.

...if you're not sure proxy before you buy (I know you don't have the book yet, but that's only a minor inconvenience.)
