Howdy all. Some of you have been kind enough to give me advice in my thread in the new members section. Im seriously considering Protectorate as my first faction. In light of the advice that the Testament of Menoth probably needs alot of infantry, and in an attempt to keep my model count small i've created a couple of lists from models i like the look of.

#1
High Executioner Reznik 6
Blessing of Vengeance 7
Crusader 6
Exemplar Bastions min unit. 5
High Paladin Vilmon/ Exemplar Seneschal 3

#2
Hierarch Severius 6
Crusader 6
Templar/Reckoner 8
Choir min unit./Paladin of the Wall 2
Exemplar Bastions min unit. 5

I cant seem to find a cost for Exemplar Cinerators anywhere (not having the books doesnt help :P). But i would consider swapping out Bastion for Cinerators purely because i like the sculpts just that little bit more.

So, advice? Critiques? Have i totally screwed this up and misunderstood how to put together a WM force?

I'm afraid you'll have to be patient for the Cinerators' rules. They'll appear in the Forces of Warmachine: Protectorate book.

The first army you suggest is probably the better of the two, but you might be able to make better use of Reznik's extra movement abilities (Witch Hound, Perdition) with a faster 'jack than the Crusader. The simplest option is to drop the Blessing to a regular Revenger, and Vilmon/Seneschal to anything worth 2pts (a Paladin fits with your original idea, but a Vassal might work better). Either way, your army hits very hard in melee, and should be able to stay together well, yet still has an arc node threat for those occasions when you want to zap a pesky solo.

The second list seems rather unfocussed to me. The Hierarch, though a beautiful model, doesn't really shine at 15pts. His feat, Influence, and Fear of God all suffer for the lack of infantry present in small games. You don't really have much in the way of ranged 'jacks to make good use of Awareness either. Finally, no arc node means that he'll have trouble dealing damage without exposing himself.

That said, I always say to play the models you like the look of. Heck, it's what I do. Give things a try and see how they work out!

Well, here's a similar list that I think I'd enjoy running:

High Executioner Reznik 6
Devout 5
Templar 8
Full Bastions 8

I might trade the Templar for a Vanquisher or a Reckoner, depending on my mood :)

As for eSevvy, I think he might (read, might) be effective in small points games if your opponent brings an infantry unit, as your feat will pretty much steal the whole thing. So, I'd try:

eSevvy
-Crusader
-Blessing of Vengence
Full Bastions

He could fuel the 2 jacks easily, you can use the Blessing to bring the threat to their caster while beating down opposing heavies with the crusader and bastions. If they are kind enough to bring infantry, thank them when your feat makes good use of them.

Awesome thanks!
@Hysteresis; you said it might be better if i use a faster jack than the Crusader. Would you have any suggestions? And, as i said im very new to WM with only a demo game under my belt. What part of a Vassal would probably make it work better? Is an Arc node like a jack that spells can be channeled through to hit targets out of LOS for the caster?
Is the Blessing just a special Revenger? I dont mind the Revenger model either so this would be an option (its also half the price to buy :P).

@der13manner; For what particular reasons do you choose a devout over the Blessing of Vengeance? I was able to use a devout during my demo game, and basically all i was able to use it for was to give Feora the extra armour during Escort. when i tried to hit a jack with it i failed miserably haha. I understand it can take a bullet for someone?
Is this very different to BoV? I basically chose it because it looks really nice, and has an awesome name :P

Keep it coming guys, this is all a learning experience for me!
