Due a few weeks I will attend a large tournament, the main event being a 35pts Steamroller. For sunday fun though, there will be a Highlander tournament, probably consisting of several of our top players. Since the Highlander tournament gives equal amount of scoring as the Steamroller for the national ranking I intend to do my best, using my Protectorate of Menoth.
I lack the experience of Highlander and have some trouble building viable lists. Here are a few suggestions. Not all lists rounds up at 15pts, a thing that bothers me. Please respond for some creative feedback.
What would you field?
What would be the most competitive?
How to reach 15pts without the most expensive units?
List 1 - Harbinger of Menoth
Harbinger of Menoth

List 2 - pKreoss

Can't take the Avatar in this format. Since he's not part of a BG, he doesn't use WJ points.

Are you sure?
I thought the restrictions just said "Warjack".
I'm aware that the warjack-points are unused, but do I have to?

It will depend on if the host says your warjack must be in the battle group. If not then you can take the Avatar but you will loose out on all the WJ points your caster gets. The usual ruling is no Avatar just FYI. You would be totally gimping yourself if you are allowed to use the Avatar anyways as you will only get 4 points to spend on a unit and solo.
pKreoss +5
Reckoner -8
E Errants (full) -8
EE/UA -2
Gorman or Piper -2

I'm planning to use:
Reznik
Fire of Salvation
max Errants+UA
2 point solo
Unit can't be targetted by spells, battlegroup gets witchhound if they are. Fire of Salvation is less choir dependent than other jacks, and both it and Errants with Ignite can take out both infantry and heavy targets if neccessary.

Most competetive?
Pkreoss reckoner full errants with ua and vassal
Most fun?
High reclaimer
Full idrians with ua
Heirophant
Revenger
Tactics aren't terribly deep with the first list. Pop and drop
The second is super ****ing when you throw a mass of clouds to hide the idrians revengers there for the opportunistic immolate or a2a. 12 man cra is cute

What about something like (without crunching the numbers)
Thyra
> Blood of Martyrs
some zealots
exemplar seneschal
Blood, like Fire, doesn't suffer terribly from a lack of choir and that whole sidestep thing might make it exciting.
Seneschal acts as a second beatstick, and positioner with his third attack, while screening with the zealots and looking for a chance for Thyra to go for the killshot.

I'm personally going to be trying
Harbinger
Devout
Exemplar
TFG + UA
I actually keep the Harbinger relatively close behind the TFG. With set defense and awe, the TFG are dang hard to hit.
TFG protect her and the exemplar from melee while marching up the field.
Harby camping a pile of focus and the devout helps neutralize ranged shots.
Heiro heals harby as she martyrs various models (mostly the exemplar).
Once close enough, she should have no trouble nuking casters or even having enough models on the board for a heavy hitting charge.

This doesn't fit the format as you either have two units (the 'Exemplar' being KE) or two solos (the Heiro mentioned in your post and the Exemplar being the KE Seneschal).

Since buying Thyra, I've used her almost exclusively and gotten some upwards of 16 games in. [sidenote: Tactica article coming soon, SHAMELESS PLUG!] This is the exact list I would use, too XD

Whoops! Yes seneschal is what i had in mind and a heiro as an alternate.

I recently (Last few months) won a Highlander in El Paso with the following list:
pSeverius
Scourge of Heresy
Full Bastions
Covenant of Menoth
Worked very well, virtually immune to spellslinging (Which did play a factor) and hits very hard. There will be a tourney in the local area soon, with a highlander being the first round. My list for that will be
Reznik
Reckoner/Templar
Max Vengers
Wracks
Should move quickly, tear apart infantry with no problem and still have the hitting power to put down enemy jacks and multiwound infantry.

You can.
You're just putting yourself at a disadvantage since you're not spending your Warjack points.

Sevy1 +6
B.o.M. 9
Errants 8/UA 2
Errant Seneshal 2
-Sevy's spell list is too good in this format.
"eye of menoth" obviously buffs your whole army.
keep "vision" on your jack as much as possible. if you get close, cycle "death sentence".
-errants are solid in this format. errants with "hunter" are a-mazing. seneshal with kill opposing solos on a charge ("assault") if "quick work" from the errants doesn't already.
-between "eye of menoth" and its self-buff B.o.M. gets lethal without a choir (and parry is too cute).
