Now here's a wild tought- would it pay off to buy grind and use Cygnar jacks for WM. I use my search-fu and found a tread with a size comparison-and I am good at converting stuff,so I wanted to hear (read anyway) your toughts on the matter.
I do like jack, and do like the fack that in MK2 they finally are worth taking. As for now i own (all painted):
T-head
Centurion
Ironclad
Lancer
Charger
Hunter
i really want to have a jack heavy army...toughts?

I did it.
Split the box with a Khador player and now I'm just waiting to pick up my plastic Jack kit on Monday.
3 Heavies for around $70? Yes please! And it beats having all the extra arms lying around doing nothing.

Wait does this really add up in size? and what are the grind jacks made out of? I though they were more rubbery

just finished my cyclone. If you can tolerate the disparity between the cyclone the old classic chassis, any disparity between the classic/plastic/grind jacks will be inconsequential.
The cyclone chassis has all the same bits, is the same size, and is generally the same shape. However, the "bulbous" feel that many ppl allude tu is the fact that the cyclone chassis is "longer". As in, the distance between the front of the head to the back of the boiler is significantly longer. As a whole, I think it's more aesthetically pleasing.

Sounds like a good idea to me, it kinda depends how the arms on the plastic kits turn out. It could require signifigant alteration. Good luck.

I have seen this idea on the forums, and was wondering...3 heavies and 2 lights...check!
I still need a defender,a cyclone..and perhaps another Ironclad.
This seems like the best option

I was talking this over with my friend the other day after readint this thread.
Does anyone have a side by side comparrioson of the plastic jack kit, with a converted grind warjack?
It is either that or figuring out a way to put magnets on the warjacks, which may not be a bad idea, but that is for a different thread.

I had a heck of a time trying to figure out magnets for the Cygnar chassis. So I just bought 2 kits instead.

I wonder if you'd be able to take these to tournaments, given that they're technically "proxies". Great idea, though.

The new full ban on proxies was an interesting change. Used to be with the organizers approval, now you can't bring them period.

I forgot about the full ban on proxies. I guess that kinda leaves me to the possibility of magnets. So phreaker, I have the feeling I will do the same as you, and end up with two kits instead since I plan on doing some tournaments this year.

I found it here http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?t=949
That's what got this topic started
On proxyies...they are not really proxy- proxy is a model which isn't modified in any way and represents an entirely different unit - not obvious to the eye.
Conversion on the other hand,is and should be encouraged - we always play(in more then one game) ; if I can tell what the models represents- 2 thumbs up

I pulled the Blues jack and what will be my Cyclone in the near future out last night to compare sizes and such. Ther are almost identical. I only came up with only a couple of differences in the jacks.

The boiler is attached as one piece with the torso. This made for a solid chunk of plastic from the bottom of the jack to the boiler firebox.
The right side boiler stack is not at the same angle as the left one on the Grind jack it leans back a little more.
The head cover is almost straight out on the Jack kit but on the Grind jack it comes down at more of a angle.
Rivets are differenet sizes and quanties if you want to be picky.
The arms are different due to how they attach. The Grind jack is the classic style with the arm plugging in. Heavy jack is just the round socket so you have complete freedom in placement.
All in all they are the exact same jack. The Cyclone chain guns fit the same. Defender gun arm will need a little work since the shoulder coupler is on both the grind jack and the gun. Both hammers for the Defender and Ironclad will require that you cut off the molded hands on the grind jack.
In the process of painting my grind jacks and new plastic cygnar kits (2 heavy kits and the 2 grind chassis gives you a lot of options!) The grind jacks are indistinguishable from the normal kits until you're holding it to your face, at which point you'll notice that the armor-plated collar is thicker, there are less rivet bumps on the outermost shoulder plate, and that the holes for the smoke-stack plate covers aren't quite as deep. There are less differences between the Grind kit and the new plastic kit compared to the old metal and new plastic kits. The shoulder does attach differently between the kits - so you'll need to get a little creative there. Interestingly, the arms for the old metal kits (which you can order from the online store) work great for the grind kits but are missing the upper-arm collar on the new plastics.

How's the texture of the plastics for the grind kits? Easy to work with?
Mold lines seem to be more severe than for the models kit boxes, but that's to be expected.
Looks like a heckuva deal for convertible bits.

Thank you very much for the pics Agamemnon. And also, thanks for the clarification on proxy for the purpose of "ironclad" body.
I can see some definatley see myself getting Grind now for the jacks, even if I have to work around and file off mold lines.

Not to highjack this thread but wanted to comment on this... I was able to magnetize the jack but did ALOT of drilling out, in the end the hardest was what to do about the cyclone, I ened up drilling out the "screw" on the forearms and putting in a wafer thin round magnet and then drilling a hole out on the hellstorm gun then placing the thin magnet to fill the hole and used some green stuff... I even painted the magnet to look like a screw on the forearms....
