Okay, so I just picked up my MK2 cards yesterday, and immediately took a look at all of the "pirate" cards since I like the theme. Rengrave has the Death Toll rule. It says that whenever he kills a living model, I may put a new revenant into a friendly Revenant Crew of the Atrementous unit. And yes, the text is italic on the card. Could this be any indicator that we will maybe get new revenat units?

Maybe. PP has done that to all the MKII units--made all their labels specific for clear rules interaction. "Revenant Crew of the Atrementous" is the full name of the existing pirates unit, and it's Rengrave's unit, so it makes sense he only controls them. It's like the "small-based bane" reference on one of the other cards; we don't know if there's something in the pipeline, or if it's just careful planning.

But… but pirates are our legacy. We are descended from the smoldering ruin of a vast and powerful privateer kingdom, and piracy is one of our main economic foundations. We have to have pirates.

And lest we forget, one of the upstart whelps great lord Toruk is trying to eat has ninjas in his employ, so it only makes sense that we use the ninja's arch-nemesis against them.

I don't see the big deal over pirates and why everyone is upset. I love the fluff behind the pirates, and the models themselves. Maybe they are not as good as you would like for tournement setting play, sure, there are bound to be models better at some things than other models are. But I think of it like this: The pirates keep some of the flavor of cryx there, even if it's not a good unit. Where as you might not "feel" as much flavor for fielding... Bane Knights (i guess) but they still represent cryx just the same. Reanimating units is awesome, the Fluffy cryx pirate theme is awesome, all I can hope for is in the tier lists Skarre's tier is pirates. I love the black ogrun, the cannon, and pretty much all the pirate-like models.

Do I think there will be another "Revenant Crew of the Atrementous", no. But pirates are still awesome c:

I don't believe it to mean anything special. It's probably just because Atrementous is a proper noun and italicized simply to let one know that it's referencing the name of the ship.
