I started this asa warm-up to some sample pages I'm working on. I'll work on it for a few minutes each time I sit down to draw, so hopefully it'll get done soon (it's gonna be a heavy drawing time for me - NYCC is coming up).

The face on that skorne is amazing.

Thanks man! It will eventually have a lot more polish, plus some tonal marker work.

Hmph! I just realized I misspelled Arcuarii in the thread title. Poop.

Phwoar. That is nice. I love how you've captured the ferocity and bulk of the combatants.

looks great, hopefully we can see the finished product soon. we need more skorne fan art! btw, it looks almost like a cetratii (so far) just because of the spear. great face. did you model the warpwolf based on the naaresh artwork in the domination book? looks like a similar pose. good idea

You make me feel shame for calling myself an artist. Your work is amazing.

Thanks for the kudos guys! I haven't gone back to this piece in forever! I've been swamped with indy comic and illustration work and I just got a nice gig doing freelance art for Shadowrun and Battletech. I really have to finish this though - I love drawing Skorne troops (great armor and weapons!) and I like that a warp wolf is getting stuck. DFGStar: it's an Arcuarii - the weapon will be the Skorne javelin. I was looking at a warp wolf mini for reference, but the pose still needs reworking. I think I had erased most of that wolf anyway - just didn't look like he was in enough pain. Skorne LOVE inflicting pain. Eh heh, heh.

Any plans to use that as a banner for your troops when you're done? It sure is nice enough to be one. XD

I think your title should be Skorne Ceratus, not Arcuarii. The Ceratus is the one with the polearm, the Arcuarii unit have the crossbow spears.
Just a friendly observation :)
I cant wait to see this colored and finished. I'd love to see you do a rendition of Protectorate Exemplar Cinerators beating back a tide of Mechanithralls. :D

i think the cetrati all fight with their spear one handed with their shield in hand like greek hoplites. He is wielding it two handed, so the pose would seem to suggest arcuarius to me.
