View Full Version : Holding a Point

Ok so now that SR2010 is out and most of the scenarios are boxes which we can do reasonably well.
My question is for those scenarios in which we need to capture and hold a single point what unit/s are people using?
Currently my favourite is looking like it will be SK's with AS on them with the Piper singing tough. It's a solid chunk of the army points but for a single point it does well.
What else have we got? In faction / Merc?

The Centurion with Arcane Shield still has alot of appeal. Backed up by mechaniks it can suck up alot of punishment and can't just be slammed out of the way.

Rangers can be good if the point is in or near a forest or put Gorman or trenchers with them they will be hard to kill with Def 18 Stealth Granted if your opponent moves something in they will have to retreat.

My only problem with the Cent is apart from a couple of casters it's not likely to get to the point first. But yes Cent with AS would definatly be a winner.
Noone else have any advise as we go into the new tournament series?

I think you will generally be much better off pushing the enemy in an aggressive manner so that they do not have the resources to clear your troops off the point rather than trying to build a super tough unit that can take everything your opponent throws at them, because Cygnar doesn't do that as a general rule.
Aside from that Boomhowler would be my suggestion.

Sacrificial unit of Storm Lances with Arcane shield on. Run up em, bog down your opponent for a turn, and fort up on the objective.
I agree with the Centurion idea, but the cyclone might also be good. Throw stuff out of the area.... or shoot em as they come.

Something moderately fast with good armour and hitboxes (like the SC maybe?) +AS will do, although depending on what your opponent brings, spells like TB and Voltaic Snare could be very handy too.
Also, Gunmages using Knockback can get there quickly and push enemy models off - might serve well?

I'd like to use the Cyclone to get them off the objectives. I plan to hang just off of the objective and pound anything that comes into it. I do like the idea of Arcane shielded Sword Knights with the piper though.

Death jack+arcnodes+banes runs up to 6" from you while both trying to do any type of geometric mosh pit.
