Okay have played a few games with Vayl recently as I fancy taking her to an up coming event.

However it's only 35 points and so I think the list I took is lacking.

Vayl,
Typhon,
3 x Seraph's
Shredder,
Shepard,

Both recent games have been against Cygnar and the first game went pretty well, although a mistake on a Caster kill for my oppo, he'd used Gun Mages as RAT 8 and not 7, so needed 11 on three dice to hit rather than the 10 in three dice he was after, anyway Typhon was stood next to Haley at this point, so we reset and went again rather than redoing it, Typhon did kill a whole unit of Precursor Knights though in a turn and mostly disabled a Lancer as well with extra bought attacks.

The second game vs Epic Haley did not go so well, he popped her feat, I disengaged but struggled from there really, my opponent has learnt though as he'd take a bokur to shield Haley from all the shooting that I've been using recently, beat him inside ten minutes with eLylyth last week :D. Anyway so i shot the Bokur and the charged the other Angelius into her hoping for the crit poison but didn't get her and narrowly failed to kill her. That was game then as vayl was totally exposed and had no Fury.

Anyway I'm always heavily outnumbered and think that this is always going to be the way in WM vs Hordes games.

Anyway I wasn't that impressed with the Seraph's, although am possibly willing to hang on to two of them and use the 8 points for something else. I think that Typhon stays for definite though.l

I think that generally Vayl needs a meat shield to hide behind while moving up to stop her getting exposed as my oppo always seemed to get a LOS to her with something shooty, just couldn't block all the avenue of approaches when so heavily outnumbered.

So would a Protector help? Animus could be quite good or would Warmongers be better? Or maybe Raptors to tie up opposing shooting units?

So maybe something like....

Vayl,
Typhon,
2 x Seraph's,
Protector,
Shredder,
Shepard,
Forsaken,
Gobbers.

or maybe swap the Forsaken for a Feralgeist?

Thoughts?

I like Carnivean's with Vayl, at least one. I like a matched pair even better. I like to sling shot a Carnivean up then slipstream it, then activate it to charge or trample into a Warlock/Warcaster. I think you are overkill on the Seraphs.

Hmmm,

I've not used the Carnivean yet and so might give it a go and see how it works.

Yeah, I'm feeling a bit that way inclined.

I think I'd have coped with either Leash or Incite changing but not both, would rather have kept Incite as it was and the incerease for Dark Sentinel just isn't enough.

With the changes to the rules for Reaving, getting her up within eight inches of the targets the beasts are attacking means that she's going to get flattened in a turn or two. She's just too squishy to me that close up to the action.

Ah well.......it's a shame as she's painted quite nicely and one of my fav models, but they'e got to be reasonably decent as well and do feel that she's lost some of that with the latest update.

So yeah.....

Doooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm! ;)

You have to go back to the way she played before, but unfortunately without teh great feat. She only ever uses incite near the enemy when you know you can kill everything that can get her. But usually incite is used for the assassination run. Slipstream her, move, incite = if I start within Control range of enemy caster chillered angels are going to getcha.

Yeah, maybe, it's the shooting that I always seem to find problematic. The majority of the games we've played so far have been 35 points, as it's been the event standard here so far and it's just the outnumbering thing. My regular oppo brings two jacks and loads of infantry, which varys a bit from game to game but B13 and gun mages seem to always manage to get LOS to her, and then Deadeye makes me flinch more than a bit with the shooting.

I guess I need to learn to place her better although a Protector is included to protect her from shooting and stop her getting knocked down.

Ina 35 point list, two Angels and a Seraph is 26 points, might work though, something else to give a test too.

I'm very much thinking that I will be taking Epic Thagrosh to my next event next weekend, and still probably the Epic Lylyth list discussed in ADS's thread.

If your opponent loves infantry, you cant go wrong with Typhon. In my experience he is the ultimate anti-infantry weapon.

Well incite changing should be liberating then. If its just used for assassination and clutch moments, then that gives you a lot of freedom to take infantry instead of outnumbered beast heavy lists. Consider warmongers with chiller, or a bit of swordsmen, UA incubi action. Put a few flanking striders or raptors in etc etc. her feat interacts well with non beasts now. I think PP really wnat us to try new things with Vayl, not for her to copy and fail to live up to Saeryn, or E-Thags.

He's my regular practice but I do reasonable amounts of gaming at events.

I'm trying not to tailor my lists to beat him as I need them to take on all comers I guess.

warmongers are other models that I really like, they've just never lived up to expectations.

Now that they're cheaper again that might be tempting again.

I guess there's some serious thinking to be done here in this next week or so. Will get the PDF printed off tomorrow and have a good read through. There's nothing like having a paper copy to get a feel for things.
