Virtuoso - This model can make melee and ranged attacks during the same combat action. When this model makes its initial attacks, it can make both its initial ranged and melee attacks. Can the Lord of the Feast make a thresher *attack in the same turn that he makes a raven attack? The way virtuoso is written, I'm not totally sure, but it seems the answer would be no, which seems counter-intuitive to the purpose of the raven's shifter ability.

In your combat action, you either choose to make your initial attacks, which in virtuoso's case is all your range and melee weapons, or you make *attack, so if you use thresher you lose out on virtuoso.

I think he can. I can't find any reference to *Attacks making you lose all initial attacks only that:
A model cannot make a special attack or a power attack as an additional attack.
and
It must use its action to make a combat action, choosing to make either initial melee attacks or (if it can make a special attack with a melee weapon) a melee special attack.
It seems clear that you give up your initial melee attack to *Thresher and still have your initial ranged attack left.
Of course I've only had the rules a day, maybe I missed something?

Combat action, P48 of Prime2.
(paraphrasing) A model taking a combat action can :
1) Make initial attack with all melee weapons
2) Make initial attack with all range wepaons
3) Make special attack (*attack)
You choose one. Virtuoso let you have 1) and 2) when you choose one of them, but it still does not include *attack.

can you make all your initial melee attacks then buy extra melee attacks with corpse tokens then get your initial ranged attack?
it looked like the intent was for him to charge in threasher then telaport 10inches and clean house, he is 3pts after all
but the rules do seem to say otherwise

I would say its pretty clear that you give up all of your initial attacks to thresher. No, killing 4 models with thresher, boosting a bird throw, and then starting all over again up to 10" away was not what they had in mind. If so they are crazy.

I'd say you can tresher, spend a corpse to bird then maybe spend some more corpses to kill

If this model makes a Thresher special attack, it cannot make any initial attacks, including its initial ranged attack.

Correct. A strict reading of the rule only allows the following:
1. Thresher Attack used as a Special Attack
2. If it gains Tokens it could in fact by more normal melee or ranged attacks.
3. So it could then "Raven" to another target.

Heart eater doesn't allow buying ranged attacks, only melee attacks.

Thanks for the clarification. Not totally sure what to use the bird for, unless he charges a lone target though. Not that bad though, I suppose.

Shoot something 15" away (move + rng) "teleport" behind it thus gaining base of target+ LotF's base size of "movement". Proceed to kill everything in 2" range.
So 15" + 1,18" + 2" + targets base (min 1,18" max 1,96") =~ 19" to 20" threat range.
Bad? :)

Tactical considerations and discussions aren't really subjects for the rules forum :)

Proceed to kill everything in 2" range.
No Thresher after using Shifter. You already decided on making initial attacks so no special attacks.

I believe he meant that he would use regular melee attacks (buying additional attacks with corpse tokens) to kill everything within 2"
Corpse tokens are what make this model go from good to great IMHO (not knocking thresher, but being able to use his bird for optimal positioning will win some games).

Yes, he can do that.
