15-25 Pt starter Coven list

I know I've been here asking about this stuff before, but I've settled on the Coven -- no, I don't want to hear that it's too hard for a beginner! It's done! I'm keeping the theme as close as possible to "Witches and their Thralls".

15 pts:
Coven -5
Nightwretch 4
Nightwretch 4
Nightmare 10
Warwitch Siren 2

-2 Arc nodes, and the nightmare seems like a useful start for the Coven. I had 2 points to fill, and decided on the Warwitch, as it is both beautiful and useful (for units, that is).

25 pts:
Coven -5
Nightwretch 4
Nightwretch 4
Nightmare 10
Bane Thralls 5
Warwitch Siren 2
Skarlock 2
Pistol Wraith 3

The same core, but with the addition of a solid, hard hitting Stealthed unit (a fun theme with the Coven), and two excellent solo choices.

I want to be collecting and painting this parallel to my Kromac Circle army, so I'm hoping to get some words of wisdom: either yes, these will function well, or no, these won't, and this is better. BUT, I want to keep the Witch/Thrall theme. CHEERS! (also, since I'm such a bother in here, I won't be offended if no one replies)

(of course, it would probably be prudent to wait for the Faction book -- but isn't that quite far off?)

Tartarus, when you have banes he is worth every point. Although how to work him in to the list may prove problematic, as there is no straight swap. But if you move to 35pts he is a must!

Other than that the list should do well enough as it stands. Although I would be tempted to drop the pistol wraith to max out the banes, as six never last that long even with stealth.

As you seem to have it set in your head what you want the only difference the faction book might make is the Covens tiered list... but that may not fit with your witch/thrall theme anyway.

I haven't played at 25 and reading your list I remember why! Very restrictive.

Anyway maxing out the Bane Thralls is a good idea. This is going to sound funny but at 25 points and with Perfect Conjunction you'll find the Skarlock really isn't needed.

So if you cut the Pistol Wraith and Skarlock you've bought back 5 points. Next you can, and I hate to say this, remove the new warwitch and suddenly you are at 7 points!

From there you can max out the Bane Thralls and add Tartarus!

I don't mind adding Tartarus, but I won't part with flavour models -- the Siren stays. I may even add in 2. I like the idea of having all 9 focus for spell casting and using Sirens to run my wretches.

Though that is all good advice, for sure. You've told me what I want to know; this list will work, even though it's not maximal.

I would add buy the extra Banes and Tartarus, that way you will be most of the way to 35pts and have some options for 25pts! Ok your wallet will hate you... but when has that ever stop us?
