played this list for the first time twice last night, took it on the chin both times:

Grim Angus (*6pts)
* Troll Axer (6pts)
* Troll Impaler (5pts)
* Earthborn Dire Troll (10pts)
Thumpercrew (Leader and 2 Crew) (3pts)
Trollkin Fennblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer (2pts)
Trollkin Scouts (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
Troll Whelps (2pts)

i fully expected to lose, having not used grim or most of the pieces in this list before, and i'm sure its not optimal. just hoping to get some feedback. i feel pretty good about the axer, impaler, earthborn, and fennblades with ua. its the other 10 points i'm not sure about. heres what else i have:

full bushwhackers
fell caller
runebearer
mauler
another impaler
bomber
blitzer

i'd be open to other options too. thoughts anyone?

Drop thumper and Whelps, add Janissa and stone scribe chronicler and your fenns we be a real tarpit, and grim will be diffcult to kill with a wall in front of him and the earthborn animus on him.

Impaler animus first to extend threat with grim
Does what grim has to do
Either earthborn or grim puts transmute on grim.

Sorry you don't have either model, but both models are worth it and will see lots of table time.

Another options is dropping scouts, Whelps, and thumper to bring in full whackers and the SSC.

Whackers are good for thr cra's, but I play scouts usually.

Also to go in a different direction, I have had pretty good success with this list, but I only have 3 games with it...

Grim
Ebdt
Impaler
Axer/slag
Bomber

Scouts
Janissa
Whelps

Its a strong list and pretty fun to play.

i've actually considered janissa and the ssc, so it would be no biggie to get them. i really want to like the bushwhackers, but i just can't get them to work well for me, at least not consistently. not much love for the thumper, huh? seems to be the forum consensus. what about dropping the scouts for horthol? don't have him yet, but he and his buddies are on the horizon.

i also like that alternative list you pointed out. might have to try it.

thanks!

Personally I cannot vouch for or against the thumper, never put it on the field.

Grim and riders are tough to pull off since grim usually has 15pts or more in his battle group.

I have been playing a different grim list lately, I posted it in another grim thread. It consists of independence and synergy. It's been working for me and its generally what I play now when grim hits the board.

It goes in a very different direction, but this has been doing really well for me. Though I intend to play that beast heavy list I posted earlier a bit more.
