In a few weeks, I will be playing in the Resurgence tournament. It's looking like there will be: 2-3 Khador, 3-4 Cygnar, 2-3 Cryx, 1-2 Mercs, 1-2 Retribution, 1-2 Menoth.

I think most of the people don't realize the benefit of speed in these lists. I wanted to run Old Witch, for the obvious reason that she owns in this scenario. However, I feel like pVlad has what it takes to be really effective. I haven't given vlad much love in the past, so I am thinking of playing him. Here's what I have:

25pts
pVlad
Kodiak
Juggernaut
Destroyer
Widowmakers
Widowmaker Marksman

35pts
pVlad
Kodiak
Juggernaut
Destroyer
Widowmakers
Widowmaker Marksman
+MoW ST (Leader and 2 Grunts)
+Greylord Ternion

50pts
pVlad
Kodiak
Juggernaut
Destroyer
Widowmakers
Widowmaker Marksman
MoW ST (Leader and 2 Grunts)
Greylord Ternion
+Full WG +UA +3WA +Joe
+Harlan Versh

It's a bit of a mish mosh list, but it's all fairly fast. The object is to get the jack wall up front as quickly as possible. It'll most likely be a first-turn pvlad feat pop to run 16". The Widowmakers +Marksman will advance deploy and begin harassment by probably rd2.

In 35pts, the MoW ST and Greylords provide some meta utility to the 'Jack brick. I was considering making the 35pt with a Spriggan instead of the MoW and Greylord addition. I am unsure of Vlad's ability to run 4 'jacks, however. I had given pButcher some thought as well, but I don't think he's fast enough. Karchev, pVlad, Old Witch and really Zerkova seem to be the best Resurgence casters we have.

At 50pts, adding a brick of WG seems to be a great way to have some staying power in the scoring zones and Harlan is almost an auto-include in most of my lists now.

Thoughts?

I would switch the marksman out for a koldan lord. He really helps out in a triple jack list. Also, I would spare the points for the beast-09 in round 2 even if that means the ternions will have to go.

What are you going to use to hold your 1-point control zone? How will you deal with solos/cavalry (or Kossites) appearing to contest it or control it?

Just something to think about. Otherwise, I think the plan to get the jacks into the center ASAP is a solid one.

Good question. I don't plan on holding my 1pt zone. If i can get into the center and then contest my opponent's zone, while holding down the middle with Widowmakers early on, I feel I can win the game in 2 turns. Kossites are a great question, however. They're seeming to be an all-star unit for resurgence. Old Witch seems to be the ace caster for it as well.

I have been also toying with a super jack heavy pButcher list that would be used the same way. Move up, slam into the opponent's line, pop feat and smash everything up. The beauty of being jack heavy is that most little piss ant infantry won't do anything to a heavy jack. Meanwhile, I still plan on keeping the Widowmakers and Marksman in either the middle control zone or my control zone, sucking up free points. 5pts of death a turn plus a free move away from whatever is coming at them spells for a nice little backfield, control-point-holding unit. I'll post my pButcher list in a second.

Hmm..not holding your own control zone? That seems risky to me.

Your opponent merely has to have a single model anywhere in the central control zone to contest it and prevent you from scoring points there. It's very easy to contest the central zone.

Scramble, Telekinesis, slams, gun mages with knockback, Beat Back, Bulldoze, Adeptis Rahn and some Battle Mages, and any number of other things can really put you out of the running for that central zone quickly. I strongly urge you to find a way to hold your 1-point zone.

At any rate: good luck, and let us know how it goes.
