Before I start, I'd ask if this thread could be moved to community... I got ahead of myself and I feel like somewhat of a tool. ;)

I've been tempted to really exercise some good synergy I happened across. It starts with eThag and Shredders. (As per usual) More specifically, a delivery system. The parts of the sum are: Full Legionnaires + Farilor and Standard, Succubus and eThag.

eThag casts Dragon's Blood on the Legionnaires which the Succubus upkeeps for free. Using the Legionnaires as a screen and making peace with the inevitability that they will not be walking away from the battle opens up some options for pretty reckless playing that could strongly favor you.

To emphasize the usefulness of the Legionnaires in this state I will list the benefits.

-While B2B with another of it's unit we rise to ARM 16.
-While Dragon's Blood is maintained for free by the Succubus they're up to ARM 18
-On the turn you're about to be charged, you use Farilor's mini feat. ARM 22
-If a model is lost, the attacker may take an auto wound on a DB roll of 5 or 6 AND Vengeance triggers on your next turn. The very same turn you use the free Vengeance move and your activation to open up some serious Shredder charge lanes.

I've left out Magic Static which throws a wrench in a great many strategies.

Thoughts or success stories?

Really? No one? What am I? Some sort of pioneer? Someone else has to have tried this. Ca'mon... I know you're out there.

For whatever reason I still haven't picked eThags up, but I did notice the same thing. The only problem I see is that the Legos and Shredders tend to fulfill the same role, or at least as I see it. I like having some heavies in there to do the deed. If you can include some heavies with that list, and some kind of range element then I'd say go forth and let us know how it goes.

You forgot Set Defence.
At first I thought Farilor was too expensive to work, now I think he's the best thing to happen to eThag.

Also, succubus may be useful, but I have no ideas other than the obvious. Is Succ an effective investment with eThags upkeeps and 1FURY animi, or is another Shredder a better 2pt spent?

Sounds almost exactly what I've been running with him before Domination, just adding the new stuff :P Once he's out, I see me having a hard time taking Legionnaires without him, regardless of the caster. E-Thags is one of the two casters I'd be even a bit apprehensive about taking the Succubus, but he has an upkeep he likes, and likes Spiny, and 3 Fury is almost always worth 2 points. Heck, 1 Fury is often worth 2 Points.

I don't think she is worth it. She is not fearless so all the abomination from eThag and forsakens is going to effect her. Then she must be within 6" of eThags AND the beast she is trying to cast the animus from.

Because of abomination you will never be able to hide her. You want your beast up front which will put her in the mid line to get shot.

eThags + Legionaires? Good times.

However, for me, it has nothing to do with any of the Legionaires abilities. They're just cheap bodies to kill to get Eruption of Ash going. The only time the Legionaires themselves matter is if the enemy is A) immune to fire, B) ignores clouds, C) high enough armor and speed to shrug off pow12s and get to eThagrosh without a charge.

As far as eThagrosh goes, my eyes are on the Throne at ARM 23 with the ability to heal itself for 3d3 every turn while churning out good melee attacks and one of two nice spells. If it gets the charge first (thus denying the charge), I'm confident it can stand up to even hard-hitting infantry as it chews through them.

I'm in the excited camp for e-Thags in Domination because Farilor makes dragon blood great on them and succubus with spiny growth and upkeep for free each turn makes the big guy more versatile and resilient

I did forget all about set defense! I enjoy my Shredders but usually only 6 or less at 35 points. I try to use them tactfully instead of saturating the field.
