I am looking to start playing epic Doomshaper and plan to play this list:
eDoomshaper
Mauler
Earthborn
Mulg
Axer
Runebearer
leaving me with 3 points. I think I will either add Janissa for her wall and utility, or Whelps+Gobbers. Any input?

Janissa is pretty awesome, her wall will keep the ever squishy Doomie safe, and eDoomie can cast Elemental Communion for free every turn.
If not Janissa, I like the idea of Gobbers and Welps, but I like Janissa alot more
3 heavies and 1 light. I'd say whelps are a pretty good idea. Otherwise you can leach 7 fury per turn (unless you save any for transfers) whereas you could use 18 fury. Obviously you won't need 18/turn.... but 7 seems harsh.
Janissa rocks, indeed. But I think you will need those whelps.

What about dropping the rune bearer and take both janissa and the whelps.

My main reason for taking the bearer is just to add aggression efficiency. If it came down to it, I could Primal shock out of Mulg for 4 POW 13's with the bearer.

Yeah that's useful, but to me, the focus of the list is the beasts. Rune bearer doesn't really help them. Whelps and janissa do. At 35, I think you want to max out their effectiveness. At 50pts, I would probably feel more comfortable bringing him. Just my style though, it is nice to have an out of the box assassination option.
Hang on...
eDoomie (-6)
Mulg 12
EBDT 10
Mauler 9
Axer 6
Runebearer 2
= 33
You only have 2 points left, not 3. Which only makes it easier: Go with the whelps!

Wow, lol. I was using iBodgert and apparently picking pDoomie the whole time. Good call!
I should have reacted earlier, since I have played exactly that army. And I can say (so do others on the forums), that that army (with whelps) will work out very well. It is a very fun super-heavy-beast list.

I also use that list, plus whelps and it works very well. Lots of smashy goodness, runebearer to cast triple Wild Aggression on feat turn, whelps to wipe off excess fury and to help heal you out of a jam if something goes wrong.
Good luck!
