Back in the Game with MKII looking for advice

so i've been out of the game for a bit and am looking to get back in with the MKII rules.

I've played 3 games with an E-Feora list that's fairly similar to what i use back in the day...

Although i like the list i'm looking for something i havent played before and am looking at Reznik for a good beatstick game. I can't decide what troops to fill in the list with though, here's what i've got so far

Reznik
Fire of Salvation
Templar
2x Choir (min)
and 1 or 2 sunburst cannons for support.
Thats 19 or 21 points so far, looking at 35 pt games to start.

Also had one more question, is there a way to get the Merc cards that work for your faction without buying the whole deck?

Your Reznik list is a bit similar to the one I was using just recently, that did pretty well. I noticed it lacked a little bit of punch against lists that are extremely battlegroup-heavy(4+ 'jack/beasts) within 35 points.

Though, I can immediately say that I'd probably swap out the sunburst for something else, it didn't really get to apply itself much. So I'd drop it for either Vilmon, a Seneschal, or drop the wracks as well and take a pair of Paladins. Or drop the wracks, sunburst, and repenter, and take a Vanquisher. I'll probably test out all three eventually, but the Sunburst failed to meet expectations, and it's only real contribution was lopping an arm off a mangler, which a paladin could have done just as well.

yeah i looked at the vanquisher too, sorry to hear about the sunburst, i was hoping it would work better with the new rules.

i think i'm going to go with an exemplar theme with his army...

The only thing i'd be worried about with this army is being overwhelmed with troop heavy armies
In larger games i'd look to add one of the heavy armored exemplars and another jack, c&c appreciated

ok so looking at all my options again i've decided that if i'm not using a vanquisher in the list i'll need some sort of ranged support so i've decided on something like this...

I'd like to use the Skirmishers, i think they're a slightly better ranged unit, despite the heavy cost, but i don't have them anyway:(
I was also considering a Guardian, but to me it fells like he's more expensive for no reason. Yeah he's got an arcnode but he didn't keep any of his abilities, all he has is his critical effect and powerful charge which are good but because of his speed i don't think he's worth it.
