I played a 25 pt. Mangled Metal yesterday with Amon against Asphyxious.

My Reckoner put Gaspy on fire second turn with his gun! He had two points left and Amon missed him with a Convection - I rolled an 8 on three dice needing a 9. Dice. Betrayal.

My last fire damage roll did no damage and Gaspy proceeded to spear Amon over and over until he died. Sustained attack is the bane of Amon's existence.

MVP: Reckoner/Fire continuous effect - Reckoner put ten damage on Gaspy second turn with the gun and set him on fire that lasted the rest of the game.

Just played my first game of 2nd Ed and owned face with Amon against Kromac. It was:

A river bisected the table and he sent a big group of Ravagers and the Lord of the Feast on one side and Kromac w/ beasts on the other. The Ravagers hit first, so it was easy to wipe them first, then handle the beasts and finally cream the Mac.

I have no idea what my win spread is anymore, but I did just pwn Epic Doomshaper using Epic Severius. 35point game. I had a mixed force, and he brought Mulg, a Mauler, a Blitzer, and an Earthbourne Diretroll. There's no way I could have won if I didn't have a castigator double hand throwing one of his trolls into each other every turn. The best part was when Mulg frenzied and finished off the Mauler for me.

At 25pts leading a probably Tier army of Exemplars and Jacks, Epic Kreoss smashes in Fiona the Black's face with a Vanquisher Ball and Chain, and follows that up by trashing 3 Berzerkers in a single turn and Karchev on the following turn. Laughed when my opponent realized that I could live without focus for a turn(given that I had trashed his melee jack the previous turn), but now his Elf was in Vanquisher range. I forgot how brutal his feat is. Bastions were killing Champions and Fennblades like they were defenseless little girls. A regular old Exemplar ended Madrak on the charge, while Gravus watched with three soul tokens and a charge lane in case he failed.

A win for Kreoss1 at 25pts. Very wild game against my PG's Retribution, Kaelyssa to be exact. Dice rolls fluctuated across the evening between us, which made for a very tense and tight game. The Atonement of Sin (Vanquisher) managed to kill 6 Sentinels by Fire rolls alone, while the Pillar of Faith (Crusader) got two more notches on his mace from whacking the Phoenix and Hydra. Kreoss1 ultimately ended it by taking a ranged assassination run by Kaelyssa on the chin, then charging in and crushing her skull in two hits.

Observations:

- The Vanquisher performs until his last hitbox is gone. Who cares if I roll one less die on attack and damage? Just get close and start tossing Fire AOEs! Long live the Vassal for Ancillary Attack;
- The Crusader + Choir is just plain. Plain nasty that is. Last game my Pillar of Faith thrashed both the Mule and the Nomad, now two elven heavies. I love running him up when I need the extra threat range, then use Ancillary Attack to whack the target. Sometimes it's all one needs;
- Knights Exemplar are great. It takes a little practice, but when they start dying things get ugly fast. Defender's Ward is gold on them. That extra DEF is terrific, and the extra ARM on top of BoB is just gravy;
- The Vassal is probably the best 2pts one can spend until now. Yesterday Enliven didn't do much (used it, but my opponent charged another 'jack), but I use Ancillary Attack to my great joy. When he got trapped in melee, he also zapped a Sentinel with Arcane Bolt. Great!

Lost with Epic Severius last night to Epic Deneghra. I was playing five points under (on purpose, campaign rules) and still did remarkably well.

Hellmouth screwed me over second turn, even though I tried really hard to keep it from happening. Lost Rhupert, a Vassal, three Choir and two Flameguard. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed.

He thought he was doing really well, but I buckled down the defenses and survived long enough to wipe out pretty much his entire army. He had two Satyxis Raiders and a Corruptor with about four boxes left of hull. I had two Bastions, a Vassal and the Covenant. Denny, sensing defeat, kept all of her focus, walked through a building and smacked Sevvy until he died.

MVP: Hierarch Severius - I killed a ton of Raiders and Bane Thralls through Admonisher, and he killed the Nightmare on his own...with his stick.

Runners up: Choir Priest and Vassal - for killing one Bane Thrall each :)

I am literally unstoppable with Reznik. I went undefeated in the Resurgence tournament, taking the Champion and Faction Coin. And now after a month's rest, Reznik comes out of the case to Wrack Borka in a campaign game being 15 points down! It seriously makes me wonder why I ever use anyone else.

Some notes about the game:

Windwall on Borka is stupid.

Choir CAN kill stuff in melee.

Frenzying Maulers attacking fellow Trolls is a grand thing.

The Avatar is an unkillable murder machine.

Unfortunately, Kreoss1 bit the dust yesterday against Asphyxious1. It had been a long time since I fought against Cryx, and it showed. My opponent basically brought nothing but 'jacks (Two Slayers, two Deathrippers and the Deathjack) and Scrapthralls. Oh, and of course the Withershadow Combine... who amused me to no end by missing some 10 out of 12 Dark Fire castings at my Knights Exemplar.

The KE did well this game, killing Maelovus and a Slayer, plus assisting in the destruction of a Deathripper (who got Immolated by Kreoss on feat turn). Defenders Ward was countered in part by Parasite. Yes, Kreoss has Purification, but Admonia also has Unbinding... The Pillar of Faith (my Crusader) failed to kill his obligatory two heavies this game, but the one he did kill was the Deathjack! The Atonement of Sin (my Vanquisher) had little infantry to burn today, but did do some nice fire damage on the Deathjack and a 'ripper.

It also was my first outing with the Scourge of Heresy (my Repenter). He didn't do much as he got crippled early on, even letting Tremulus alive with 1hp after a flame jet. Luckily it didn't become Dark Industries fodder... The Bringer of Light (my Revenger) fared even worse, receiving a whopping 40dmg (yes, 21 over ARM) Combo Strike from the Slayer that would ultimately end Kreoss as well. Enliven kept it alive for one more round of arcing, but the beast then got him after all (Vilmon didn't cripple him good enough with his charge, and got eaten).

Tied in my first ever game. I used the battle box + min choir and a paladin, opponent played a Zerkhova army. We ran out of time as he had to go to work, but I almost sealed the deal before getting stalled on Zerkhova's feat turn. Almost managed a couple of immolations arced through the revenger anyway, but came up an inch short after I learned that spells targetting Zerk the jerk get -3" range :mad:) Would have lost the revenger next turn, but still had plenty of threats. Crusader wasn't getting enough done and widowmakers were about to drop his mace arm. I felt like I needed more ranged (perhaps a redeemer/vanquisher), but the repenter was hitting like a truck if he could reach with his spray. Had TONS of fun, and even though it was a tie, the game has me pretty amped up.

Won a tournament yesterday with Kreoss in two games and Severius in one of them. Two ended with Avatar killing enemy warcaster (though he had to use the shield against Butcher2 due to losing the Burning Wrath). One was with Errants in melee vs Caine2 after Avatar clearing Ol' Rowdy out of the way.

How did that work out? Usually, Assassination is always the secondary win condition. The game generally ends immediately once one side loses their caster.

-Victory conditions says that at the game ends at the completion of the eighth game round. The player that controls the most coordinates wins the game. In case of a tie, the player with the most victory points win.

I was playing the last turn and wracked her in my eighth turn. I only had two coordinates and he had six. We figured he, eSkarre, won.

Another win with my favorite caster, OSevy. After some the Avatar and some Daughters with Protec... Defenders Ward tied/beat down up most of my opponents threatening stuff Sevy was able to run Blessing up one side and a plain Revenger up the other. My opponent (the new Cygnar caster) tried to move away from Blessing, but couldn't avoid the other one and got Immolated to death.

Then dusted off OKreoss for the first time in a while and took on Gorten. Even though his troops were immune to blast damage, the Vanquisher's auto :DmgType-Fire: took them out just the same. Eventually Kreoss was able to Purification away Solid Ground so as to drop and pop. Game over.

Two games with Kreoss1, both against one of my mates' Doomshaper2.

The first game was a resounding loss, due to me gravely misjudging the threat range and killing power of the Dire Troll Mauler enabled by Doomshaper2's feat + Wild Agression + Goad + Rush. To cut it short: the DTM raced forward, killed a hapless Choir boy and then proceeded to kill Kreoss in two swipes. My own MotM was a lone Exemplar one-shotting the Totem Hunter, who had whiffed his own attack the trun before. By the way, being deprived of Fire rolls sucks (luckily I didn't bring Feora). Damn Stone Scribe Elder!

The second game I intended to stay the heck away from that Mauler and his crazy threat range, or from any other warbeast for that matter. My opponent actually did get off another assassination run, but this time tried it with an Axer. He forgot to pop his feat, luckily, and could only land one hit on Kreoss, which was insufficient to take the High Exemplar down. Kreoss then proceeded, after knocking down nearly the entire Troll army (which was subsequently decimated by my own forces), to Immolate Doomshaper to death. Once again the Totem Hunter bit the dust early: one-shotted by the Scourge of Heresy (Repenter)!


And now for the most hilarious moment in a WM/Hordes game ever (so far):

In the second game, my opponent's Swamp Gobbers gave up pumping smoke after a while. They then decided to go Rambo on me, and charged... Vilmon. The High Paladin had charged and killed the DTM in my turn, and was thus unprotected from this only 'threat' that was in range to 'harm' him.

1. The Swamp Gobber Gunner rolled 13 on the attack roll (MAT3 + 2d6). Hit.
2. The Swamp Gobber Gunner rolled 23 on the attack roll (P+S5 + 3d6). Kill.

Dartan Vilmon, High Paladin of Menoth, arguably the best swordsman on the face of Caen... one-shotted by a Swamp Gobber.

Got a win with Amon against Mortenebra. I kept Amon back a bit and well defended while moving my heavies up. A Spectral Steeled Deathjack bum rushed and was laid low by the combined, focus-laden efforts of a Templar and a Vanquisher. Next turn he feated and just tried to damage my jacks. Amon then feated, cast Mobility, Synergy and Flaggelation, Choir Infused and everything in the battlegroup started hitting anything it could so as to generate bonuses for my Reckoner who suprised my opponent by walking out of combat from two of his jacks to walk 7" + reach and pound Mortenebra.

Two more V's for OSevy, both against OGaspy. Tried a weird list of 2 selections of each of the following: Seneshals, Paladin, Allegiants and Daughters. Also BoV, palin Revenger, a Choir and Wracks. Slaughtered his Banes with Daughters and his Deathjack w/ a dual Paly charge and a focus laden Revenger. Then assassination was easy, though Gaspy's feat was tough on a Parasited unit of Daughters. Had a rematch after that ended similarly.

7 losses for pKreoss, my first 7 games against my Cryx friend, All to Denny.
1 Draw for pKreoss against another Menoth player in the area (we had to call for time and didn't thinka bout VP's and was so close we called it a draw)
1 Win for pKreoss done today. After getting almost shot to death by Khador(What the?!?) I was able to turn things around and kill the butcher on the feat turn through two immolations and two allegiant attacks after a vanquisher shot had softened him up in an earlier turn. Special note, Choir having reach can be really useful, he moved his Destroyer to take a shot a Kreoss, but ended up being engaged by the choir to prevent it(could have been game ending if it hit)!

5 Losses for eFeora, 3 agasint my same Cryx friend, and 1 against the butcher. And a scneario loss in Resurgance to Menoth. (I killed him the turn after though >.< )
4 Wins for eFeora, 1 agasint my Cryx friend assassinating his caster (forget which caster it was, but I finally beat him after 10 losses) one agasint the Butcher, decided by VP's due to time.(He had massive board advantage though) One win against another Cryx in the area.(I really need to learn and remember the Cryx Casters names) And one win against Retribution in Resurgance via Scenario.

And finally one more loss for both eFeora and pKreoss from a 100 point 2 warcaster battle a few weeks ago against another menoth player fielding eKreoss and Harby.

I'm keeping up my legendary win streak with Amon Ad Raza. I thought I would not be able to with Sandblast gone, but I faced Stryker with a choir, vassal, FoS, and Two revengers (15pts, I think) He thought he had Stryker well protected next to Ol Rowdy and a hill. And one of my weakened Revengers in my way. Popped my feat, ran up and hit stryker with Amon (I used to have to charge to do that, Thanks new Mobility!) My Weak revenger stepped out of the way immune to free strikes (much to my opponents dismay) and stabbed old rowdy for a few points of dmg. My revenger completely out of the combat killed a stormknight/blade/thingy guy and Synergy was up by three. The choir had already sung a battle hymn. FoS came up, used his imprint and proceeded to hit Stryker with an effective MAT 11 and POW 20 on his fist. Next hit was MAT 12 and POW 24 on the mace = Dead Stryker. Amon Wins!

WIN: Last week I faced an odd Deneghra/Pirates list with eKreoss, and things weren't looking good for our heroes. He got basically my entire army with her feat, and by the time I was out from under that, I had very few figs left on the table. By the skin of my teeth, Hawk failed a tough roll and opened a charge lane to Deneghra, eKreoss popped feat, and a lone KE survivor auto-hit her twice for enough damage to seal the deal.

Three wins and a tie with Kreoss1, in our first national MK2 tournament (SR2010)! I took 4th place (out of 20), and my team mates came in 2nd (Magnus1), 3rd (Vyros) and 10th (Doomshaper2).

Battle 1 - Incursion: I won against Vlad1 by knocking him down with the feat, Immolating his somewhat, then finishing the job with the Vanquisher. I'm noqt quite sure why my opponent put Vlad so far up field. Perhaps he forgot that with the feat, my Vanquisher could walk away from those MoW ST without free strikes...

Battle 2 - Destruction: the second win, against Kara Sloan, was after dice down, when I had no damage on my objectives and my opponent had nearly lost one (all thanks to Kell Bailoch, pinging away, and a few brave KE who charged the objective through a Cyclone's Covering Fire). SLoan only managed to take out Vilmon, and needed two shots to do it!

Battle 3 - Capture The Flag: a tie against Vyros. It was a massacre, mostly thanks to extremly poor dice rolls on my opponent's side (who is my resident PG, great chap). Unfortunately, after dice down, none of us had any models within 3" of each other's flag...

Battle 4 - Kill Box: a win against a very 'beast-heavy Thagrosh2 army, against an opponent who's very skilled with PoM. Luckily, he forgot his feat on a crucial point in the game and dice down was called when he could finally start his assassination run with Typhon on Kreoss1. I had the most army points left in the box, so I won. Note to self: Eyeless SIght is still annoying, and sprays are devastating (three per turn from Typhon and one with Assault on the Carnivean).

Got some tournament practice games in today. First game was Kill Box, Reznik put Zerkova on a wrack. Second was Over Run, Reznik got annihilated by a Renegade and Mule hitting his DEF18 ARM20 arse (stood behind an obstacle). Third game was Multiple Mosh Pit, Hierarch Severius fought Rahn to a standstill. Most of Rahn's army was gone for very little loss, but neither of us could get near both objectives and both warcasters stayed way out of Assassination range, so it ended in a draw due to time out. I should have got a fourth game, but my opponent was late so i missed the first round.

Edit: Win for High Executioner Reznik against Grand Exemplar Kreoss, who was misbehaving and so ended up on a wrack.

Played 2 games with Reznik. First was at the 35 point level against Zerkova. Long story short, a Marauder knocked down my jack wall and then Zerkova pushed everything else away to open up lanes for his ranged guys to nickel and dime Reznik to death.

Second game was at the 40 points level (league game, been increasing by 5 each week of the league) against the same player and caster. On turn 3, I left Reznik out in the open, but camping a lot of focus. Only had a Vanquisher fully functioning as my Crusader and Templar were knocked down or stationary and I needed the focus and couldn't stand them up. Reznik gets charged by a unit of Pikemen and taken down to 9 health left. On my turn, I wrack a Pikeman and Wrack-bomb the rest (it was epic) and Reznik takes 6 dmg (good rolls on my opponents part). With the Pikemen gone my one remaining choir member sings battle on the Vanquisher like his life depended on it, which it did. The Vanq walks up to where the pikemen were and has a clear shot to Zerkova. He takes her down to 3 life left and a Vassel makes the Vanq attack again for the kill.

Sorry for the lengthy report, but that was my first League win and the guy I was playing is a good player and good friend. That made the win taste even better. :)

Win for eFeora vs Iron Lich Asphyxious at this weekends steamroller. I only have the one game as i suffered an accident after that game while grabbing food taking me out of playing the next two rounds. :(

Scenario was destruction. Neither of us even glanced at the objectives. I had one of his get caught in an AoE that did no damage. That was the extent of the action the objectives saw that game.

Bonded redeemer shined this game as he only had light jacks(hell divers and chickens) and solos/units. Fire, Fire Everywhere! He also advanced his caster too far foward with nothing blocking LOS to him, so redeemer and vanquisher shot him up early game and made him retreat. And made the same mistake(no LOS blocking) late game allowing the reckoner to hit him twice to end it about 1 minute before dice down. Though feora was getting surrounded at that point so was rather fortunate it ended as he would have won if he had another turn

A solid 35 pts win with Severius1, and my first battle with the Old Man of Menoth! I was already planning on taking him to a tournament next week, but this victory cemented that decision. I needed a break from Kreoss1 (my only really used 'caster to date) and decided on some spell-slinging action. I took the same list I use for Kreoss 1 (Crusader, Vanquisher, Revenger, Repenter, full Choir, Vassal, Wracks, Knights Exemplar, Vilmon and Kell Bailoch), but used the extra warjack point to upgrade the Revenger to the Blessing of Vengeance. Easy as that!

I played against my regular Trollblood buddy, who had brought Khador for change of pace: Butcher1, his Wardog, two Destroyers, two Mortars, full IFP with UA, Widowmakers and a Marksman. I knew from the start that those AOEs could well obliterate my squishy support and dito 'caster, so I kept Severius close behind the Repenter most of the time to deny Arcing Fire. Could'nt help the Choir much besides keeping them behind the other 'jacks. The Vassal has Iron Sentinel, so he was pretty much OK.

I had first turn, running stuff up and Shielding the 'jacks. Kell ran into position. Severius cast Defenders Ward on the KE and EoM on himself. The KE ran up to provide a tempting target for the Widowmakers and the Marksman.

On my opponent's first turn, the Widowmakers and Marksman took the bait and sniped 4 KE. Mortar fire erupted and started a tradition that would continue the entire battle: my opponent rolled great for deviations, but his damage rolls were horrid (only 2 Choir boys fell to the Mortars the whole game): Kell was hit twice, and so was a Wrack, but he just rolled equal to ARM...

In my second turn, I saw my chance and ran up the BoV in range of the Widowmakers. Severius then unleashed Menoth's retribution and wiped the entire unit AND the Marksman from the table with one fell A2A (enhanced with both EoM and the +2 from BoV)! :D

It all went rather smooth from there. The only casualties on my side were 4 KE (sniper shots), 2 Choir boys (mortal shells), Vilmon (fully boosted Obliteration) and the Vanquisher (hacked apart by both Destroyers and an IFP). The casualties on my opponent's side were quite higher: all Widowmakers and Marksman (A2A), all IFP (Kell's sniper shot, BoV whacks, Vanquisher fire, KE whacks and an Immolation), both Destroyers (both whacked by my Crusader... the 'two heavies per game'-spree continues!), the War Dog (4 sniper shots from Kell, bloody Tough pup) and the Butcher himself.

After popping Severius' feat the previous turn, the Butcher decided to charge the BoV. Unfortunately, he only dealt 7 damage... then was Repelled out of melee. This gave Severius the opportunity to cast Death Sentence on the Butcher. Subsequently my two lone KE charged the Butcher and killed him in two swings (7 and 13 damage respectively)! If he had survived, the BoV with 3 focus was there to deal with him.

Great game, great 'caster. I love Severius already!

Round 1 Incursion - eFeora vs Kara Sloan, won on turn two by two reckoner shots to her face. Redeemer opened a hole in her shieldwall line of Precursors and her gunline opening LOS to Sloan, reckoner followed up with a vassal following.

Round 3 Process of Elimination - eFeora vs Strakhov. Feora was damaged early by his jack (I keep forgetting about arcing fire >.<) went a few more turns, 5 daughters and an allegiant had got set up for an assassin charge next turn, but he popped feat and was able to squeeze 3 kayazy into melee range with feora to take her out. (she had a jack in front, vassal on side, and choir behind but he was still able to get 3 into melee range)

After tournament played a 35pt game against a Retribution player. eFeroa vs Kaelyssa. Won that by concession as I had decimated most of his force. If I played my next turn, barring horrible rolls he would have had a single heavy jack and his caster, vs 8 TFG, 5 Daughters, 3 jacks and caster.

Another 35pts game to practice with Severius1. This game was... bizarre. I played my standard list (see two posts up) against an incredible tarpit Cryx army: Terminus, Withershadow Combine, 3 min units of Mechanithralls, a unit Revenants, Rengrave, a bunch of Scrapthralls, a Deathripper, a Skarlock, Darragh Wrathe and a Necrosurgeon. My opponent needed about 15 minutes to deploy tactically...

To cut a long story short: it was absolutely no use to try and grind through all those undead. There were simply to many, they were Tough in Terminus' CMD and the bloody Revenants came back. My Vanquisher lost his Vassal too soon and my Repenter screwed up a spray and got engaged early on. Yes, I killed some of his models, but nowhere near enough.

So, yeah, at some point I decided to throw caution to the wind and exploit my open charge lane to Terminus (sitting on ARM 22) with the Blessing of Vengeance. Not surpisingly, my opponent thought Terminus to be pretty safe... I loaded up the BoV with focus, and charged him in with Battle and EoM active: that was a very nice 11+2d6 attack roll (yay for Powerful Charge) and a 16+3d6 damage roll.

I rolled three sixes.

Of course, the guys at the LGS almost rolled over the floor laughing, as I had just whacked off HALF of Terminus' damage track! At this point I decided I could lose with dignity after such a hilarious roll. I bought another attack, hit and boosted... and left Terminus at 1 hp with another great roll!

I then activated the Vanquisher and shot a Revenant near Terminus. Even though the blast damage was 10, I rolled just high enough to kill the Lich Lord!

Yes, that was pretty much the most awesome action in the last couple of weeks. Tune in next time!

First game was against Big K and a heavy jack list, my 1st attempt at a 35 point list crumbled, left K on 2 or damage boxes mind. So rebuilt the list, went against a deathjack and bile thrall list, feated turn two and let the bastions chew the deathjack, the TFG chew the raiders and then mopped up and engaged the caster, with stupid amounts of attrition I didn't even need to roll other player quit.

3rd game was a merc list, broadside list, choir going no shooty left my jacks mostly unmolested - fires out of turn move suprised them again allowing a nice charge, crusader holding his own at 6 points again...bastions just kept getting pushed back and pushed back but held that unit up. TFG took a b eating but that's there job....Typhoon turn held me up - and nearly allowed a kreoss assassination after I messed up the control range of typhoon - then turn after I feated, 3 focus crusader in range of caster with only a broken hand + choir infuseing it - think it was 11d6 + 18 or something stupid like that. wasn't even worth rolling.

MVP - first game TFG almost won me the game on scenario - but kreoss nearly chewed the big K - 2nd game, bastions for chewing the deathjack then holding there own vs bile thralls. 3rd game fires taking out a mariner quickly then holding the hammer dwarfs a turn whilst clensers moved in.

TFG have always done there points worth and the UA is worth the 2, sunburst has now been dropped as Ekreoss is all about getting in your face, never lost a bastion, crusader is point for point nasty and fires a worthy upgrade making my 2 heavies. Clensers were a 'try it and see' addition - I may be changing them to errants soon and my exemplar senchal (subbed in for the sunburst) to an errant one and a menofixer, but the clensers are proving effective, the cloud alone proves that

Scenario draw with Hierarch Severius against Lich Lord Asphyxious. Win for High Executioner Reznik against Forward Kommander Sorscha. Against Sorscha my Allegiant managed to do all but 1pt of damage to her, after dodging attacks from her, Yuri the Axe, 2 Manhunters, a Spriggan and an 11 man Winterguard unit for 2 full turns. He also punched Kovnik Grigovich to death the turn before and single handedly held up an entire flank. What a guy! Di'Bray almost got the kill on Sorscha with her throwing knives, but she missed and Eiryss had to mop up a turn later.

Win with eFeora vs Magnus Tier 4 list, 50pt game. Made me work but barely pulled out the caster kill. Feora took about 12 damage from obliterater rockets early on, but escort and reach on the Reckoner allowed him to make it to magnus and beat face, one lone daughter was in range to move and attack to deal the final 2 damage.
