Hi everyone im new to wargaming. have just bought my first 40k army and played few games. Heard that warmachine was a good game so thought i'd look it up. I must say it sure looks good, so much so im keen to get setup and have few games.

Looking through the different armies i notice that some are still to be updated for the new prime mk ii ruleset.

Can you tell me please which armies have been updated already and when the others are set to be updated?

Many thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Iron Kingdoms! *gives geneticdeviant a cookie and an Ironclad plushie* ^_^

Well, all of the Warmachine armies have been updated to the new version. You can pick up Prime MkII along with the 2010 Faction Deck for Khador, Cygnar, Menoth, Cryx or Mercenaries. Hordes MkII will be out later this year (we're thinking September at the moment). So it's certainly no problem getting started with Warmachine at the moment. In fact, with the changeover, the balance for the game is better than ever.

is it just that the new forces books have not come out for khador and cryxx yet? can't seem to find them anywhere for sale?

Correct about the books. The Cygnar book is out this Month. Next month is Khador, then the month after is Menoth, then Cryx and finally Mercenaries. It's not like GW where it takes years between book releases. This is going to be one a month until they're all out. Then we'll get get the Hordes book.

Yes. The stat cards have all the special rules for the particular unit/warcaster/solo/warjack/whatever on them. The rulebook will have the full rules for playing the game. So with the deck and Prime, you can get started without having to fully wait for the Faction Book to come out.

What the faction books bring to the party are the faction fluff and unit backgrounds, plus painting guides and other such things. Plus, there will be units in the book that don't have cards in the decks. (The decks just have the cards for units that came out before the MkII transition so people that have them can update their cards from the MkI they got when they originally purchased the models).
