Default Models/Units to Know in Other Factions

I am new to warmachine and playing Cygnar. At this point I can nearly recite all of the stats and abilities of our models, but I can't tell you anything about the other factions (have not played much yet). I need to learn the other factions some...

So, what are the models/units out there that we need to know about. What are the more commonly used, watch out for this, etc. models/units?

If I had to do this for Cygnar, I think it would look something like:
    eHaley
    pHaley
    eStryker
    eCaine
    Seige
    Ol'Rowdy
    Thorn
    Thunderhead
    Stormclad
    Defender
    Hunter
    Stormblades
    Gun Mages+UA
    Black 13th
    Junior
    Squire
(I am sure there should be more or fewer on this short-list, but like I said, I'm new)

This is a good topic for discussion I think. Always good to know ones enemy. There are how ever two models I'd add to this Cygnar list.

    Arlan Strangeways
    Storm Strider

And I'd think about taking Thorn out as he get's relatively little use (from my experience) except for

    (insert pithy comment here)

    Circle -

    Casters -
    Kromac
    EKrueger
Baldurs (both) - Lots of heavy armor with the epic version.
    Mohsar (in the right hands)
EKaya - stealthed battlegroup is rough

    Units -
    Bloodtrackers + UA
Shifting Stones + UA (READ THE CARD and ask questions!)
Wold Stalkers - These can put out some big shots that you might not be ready for.
Ravagers - if you are running a lot of living infantry (without tough)

    Heavy beasts -
Warpwolves - All the big fuzzy ones.
Megalith - (rock one with hulk smash pose)
Woldwyrd - (Weird eye on a stick)
Gorax (small ugly light warbeast, kill him early, his animis is sweet)

Solos - All three of these guys can kill LOTS of infantry in a turn.
    Lord of the Feast
    Tharn Ravager White Mane
    Reeve Hunter
Blackclad Wayfarer - gives some crazy threat range to the already fast fuzzy beasts and has a nice magic spray.

Battle Engine - The battle engine can take out a LOT of infantry per turn.

He is, but we don't use him much. When I field him my opponent always ask for the card cause he never fought him before. Every. God. Damn. Time.

You guys are awesome, thanks for posting to add to this. Think I should edit the original post to summarize a list for each faction?

ummm Sepher32 must have been either drunk or tired or both because he missed not only the most obvious Cryx model to know about but the most complained about model in both warmachine hordes....Tartarus.

Also there is no Combine on the list.
    My advise to new players.
When you build a list, build something that if you have to play it five times in a row plays five different ways. Otherwise you're going to get bored fast. It's about enjoying the game first winning comes later.

    Harbinger

    Kreoss

    Choir of Menoth
    Reckoner
    Redeemer
    Avatar

    Khador:

    eSorcha
    Old Witch
    Butcher (both)

Beast 09 (very important to understand how good thresher is on a heavy)
Winterguard Deathstar (understanding how they work is extremely important, because you WILL face them. Also having something up your sleeve to dispatch them is equally important)

    Ohh!! I get Piggies!

Carver - Versatile monster who beats face, simple and powerful feat. Makes everything scarier.
Warhogs - One of my favorite beasts every, very face smashing.
Brigands w/ Carver - gives them CRA and they get tough whenever they want. Plus fearless from Carver.
Warhogs w/ Arkadius - Haven't played myself, but I have heard many things. Many scary things.
Slaughterhousers - Once its hurt, its 3 dice. Once it's hurt and I'm charging its 4 dice. Once I get Carver's feat going, its 5 dice. Then add in reach and tough.

Also, Saxon Orrik - Pretty awesome solo often used. Though sometimes its only for pathfinder (which is really good on the Slaughterhousers.
Come to the Pork-side....we have BACON!!
    *Insert Cygnar based pun here*
    meh fancy models!

    Mini tactica will help, too:

Crys: Tartarus: Use "can see stealth" models to shoot him before you go after banes. With his medium base, your models will "see" him behind the bane wave. You'll need high damage as he's got decent armor and multiple wounds.

Cryx: eSkarre: Seeing her a lot in timed tournies. Her feat makes it so that five models are untargetable and don't take damage. Expect to see her get it with four other jacks (Deathjack likely in this list, too). You either need models that can hurt them before the feat or you need to play defensively enough to wait the feat out while not losing key pieces and/or scenario. EStryker and eCaine can pull off both tactics. A well-timed eHaley feat can hose them right back if they popped feat first.

Circle: Shifting Stones: If you destroy one of the three stones, they can no longer teleport 8" closer, taking away one of their alpha strike tactics. They're easy to hit, but high armor.
Huh. Six months away from Cygnar and I've forgotten how to win... until Kara Sloan goes all 'bullet to the head' several games in a row. It's good to be back.

Ahhhh... put some reasons with these model names or it's kinda meaningless.

    Skorne:

eMakada - watch out for leash, road to war, and her feat with access to models with beat back and side step. All boosted to hit, immune to free strikes... I had a Beast WALK 16" to get to my caster with 2 fury left. It was nuts.
Bronzeback - He can get crazy movement going on. We call him the dancing queen for side step and all that jazz. Be very careful as there's a good chance he can get to you even if you're behind a bunch of models.
Agonizer - little bugger is annoying. He gets fury put on him and then can use an ability so that your jacks can't be allocated focus. Be very wary of the little bugger.
Gladiator - this big beast has rush. If you can take him out all the other beasts will be much less maneuverable. Rush is +2 move and pathfinder.
Molik Karn - Weapon master heavy beast with good MAT in a faction with lots of movement bonuses. He can also hit and move back out of retaliation range. One of the best heavies in the game.
Paingivers - amazing support models that is great if you can take them out as soon as possible. The can enrage (+2 damage and free charge I think?) and remove fury from beasts.

Cryx - some of this has already been explained above.

Pistol Wraith - If he hits your jack with both shots he can chain attack and force you to sacrifice movement or action next turn. Very annoying.
Tartarus - stealth arm 17 with 8 wounds. Nasty bugger has curse which just happens and there's nothing you can do about it. -2 def on one of your model/units. He also has thresher and every living model he hits can be turned into another infantry model for them.
Death Jack - Casts spells. Generates its own focus. Can have up to 5+ focus in a turn. Nasty nasty bugger. I recommend black oil.

    Blindwater

Barnabas - he can put down swamp pits which when an amphibious model is in a pit, you can't target it with a ranged attack. Rough for us. They also count as water which is rough terrain. Throw on top his feat that knocks down non-amphibious models in his control area and he can be a bad matchup for a lot of Cygnar lists. He struggles against heavy armor though so somebody like pStryker, Darius or Kraye can take him on. Kraye is actually one of the best against him.
Wrastler - one of the few ways in the game you can throw a model on your own turn and still have it activate properly. The rise animus means these guys can have deceptive threat range. With Barnabas' war path spell these guys could theoretically get 3" war path + 6" throw + 5" move + 3" charge + 2" reach from swamp horror animus = 19" threat range. Reality means that probably won't happen.. but it can still be very far reaching...

Combine: Free upkeep, Upkeep Removal, Dimsmantle and if all three of them get hold of a jack your going to end up giving the Cryx player a free jack of their choice.
    My advise to new players.

I usually want to know anything that has reach, out of turn movement (counter charge, vengence), or just play silly abilities (tartarus).
That said I play cryx and I would add to saying you should know what the following do:

    Black Bane's Ghost Raiders
    Soul Hunters + Darragh

    Reaper, Malice, BOBP (drag models)

I'm sure there are other things, I pretty much just try to know what everything does. That's the best idea.

Forgive any repetition from what has already been mentioned, but from my experiences with these two armies I recommend keeping an eye out for the following:

    Menoth
    Both forms of Kreoss
    Avatar
Choirs (get rid of them asap)

    Trollbloods
    Borka
    Krielstone bearer & his entourage

All Battle Engines in general should be taken out in one turn.

Just speaking for the Red Team (Khador) here, be mindful of the horror that can ensue during the FEAT turn of Epic Vlad (Captain ShoulderPads with the one big sword).

It isn't that eVlad will do anything to you (though he might), it is what he will do to the d3+3 models in his control area (d3+3 friendly models get basically +3 to ALL STATS for one round). Be especially concerned about things like a Drakhun or Kazazy Eliminators who become crazy fast.
