And I just want to chime in on this to keep this motion...in motion. I would love some case crackers. Some Medium based armored units with wounds would be preferable. Also a warjack or 2 (1 light and 1 heavy).

maybe a unit like troll sluggers, they have volley guns, and the burst fire option that gives them a good power against heavy warjacks, like base power 13 or so, with good range, and like D3 shots.
Freebooter VS Nomad
This is assuming charging, and against a knocked down target with armor 20 (average d6 roll is a 3.5)
Freebooter: 14+14=28 14+10.5=25 for a total damage of 13
Nomad : 17+10.5=28 14+7=21 for a total damage of 9

The Helmsman: Mr. Lucky...a double peg legged, eye patch wearing, half-man/half-jack fusion. Mr Lucky acts as a magnet for incoming fire, protecting the rest of the crew.
Mizzenmast Sniper: A true solo sniper for pirates.
Pirate Boarding Party: Equipped with Gaffs and Grappling Hooks. Have reach, a "team" knock-down against jacks (and a special surprise for colossi)
Swivel-Gunners: one or two man teams with the equivalent of Bart's gun.

A lesser warlock with an octopus or squid! 4-inch reach, sustained attack and maybe poison on a bite attack.

For I am The Ruiner of Games, and I have set my baleful eye upon Warmachine. Look in my wake and you shall see both Warhammer Fantasy and 40k. Tremble with fear as you see the mangled corpses of miniatures games piled high from countless years of slaughter.
I would greatly appreciate it if pirates had either a more dedicated ranged unit, or a unit of something that hit a little harder.
also another jack or two would be good too. thinking lights with harpoons that can drag big base models due to special rules, or maybe a duelistic heavy.
That said, why do Rhulic players say we have more privateer jacks... I count 4; one colossal, two heavies and a light. Sure we can use other jacks, but hey, you can use other units if your not so stuck on them being "Rhulic" or in searforge. Heck, I was half tempted to kitbash steelheads and highshields to make rhulic steelheads! they would be pretty themey, even if i had to play fourstar or high bourne to actually play them. You want to play something being thematic, then scoff at other players who want to do the same. tsk tsk.

Speaking of ally units, I wouldn't mind seeing an ally caster from cryx ala Constance Blaze. Something like a captain + crew tempted to work in the service of the black fleet then cursed to ensure their loyalty. Something similar to Rengrave and his lot but with less consent. Instead of reveling in it like the revenants the caster and his men are seeking to remove it from themselves while on the leash of the nightmare empire.
Privateer jacks are the piratey ones listed in the pirate section of mercs (used to be labelled as privateer in the old FoW: Pirates of the Broken Coast. Namely the buccaneer, freebooter and mariner.) if you want only pirate theme, list ends there. Galleon just screams pirate though.

Thusly, my argument to "searforge" only players. Conversions are totally cool and can allow you more options and more answers to those unanswered questions.

Has any one seen the proposed Shae character mariner? basically, nothing different, but it gets chain strike and is 9 points. It would be pretty lolsy to thresher with 4 inch reach. problem is then with arm 17 it will still die next turn.

I dread to say it but Shae should have a character Freebooter.
The issue is, of course, that said Freebooter is now resting in the bottom of Meridius.

And i have been advocating shae dredge that thing up for ever! I think that once per game it should be able to open its seals and create a 5 inch water effect, that and have special rule abrasive (think barnacles), if you damage this model in melee with an arm/head system, that system takes 1 box of damage. Possibly also 18 armor because of all the limpets and barnacles.
