Default Something Cool, Fun, and EPIC! Fully Painted Unbound

Here's a game myself and one of the other local guys had a few weeks ago. Unbound is actually a pretty good way to play large games. The activation order is very tactical, and requires a very good grasp of your strategy. The game moved faster than I thought it would, and playing with that many models on the table wasn't that bad, to be completely honest.

We went all out, and usbprime (my opponent) pulled out the stops, and built us a barn for the Barn Stormer scenario.

We decided to call it a draw after 6 hours with not a single warcaster dying. Skarre, and Stryker both took a bit of damage, but that was all. Holding the barn flip-flopped between the two of us over the course of the game, and no control points were scored.

Would I play a game this big again? Yes. Definitely.

Without further ado, Unbound: Fully Painted.

    Deployment:

My Storm Lances made it across the board to Assault, and three of them whiffed 6 (6!!!) attacks, doing no damage at all, and dying the following turn....

Yeah, this is odd. The Photobucket album shows them as there. When I edit the post, the pics appear, and remain when I save it. Soon as I refresh the page here, they disappear.

Bah, serves me right for not uploading them myself. I'm working on fixing it. Just give me a few minutes to rehost them.

Yeah, can't see most of them. Posts #: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 8 all show the good ol' Photobucket "This picture or video has been moved or deleted" message. The images in #9 and 13 show up just fine.

Looks like it was a good brawl though.

You probably didn't resize (all photos posted on the internet have to be resized to 72 dpi, or you'll tear through your hosting bandwidth with ten photos) them, and Photobucket has issued a 'Bandwidth Exceeded' message....rehost coming soon....

Just get some photo editing software and resize your pics to 72 dpi, and about 1024 pixels per side. Free hosts don't offer a lot of bandwidth, and resizing is much easier than using 20 different accounts/hosts.

Your avatar is my Black 13th....I'm flattered.

I like Flickr, and I haven't had any problem with it. Then again, I also paid for the membership so that I could have my bajillion photos hosted there.

For another free image hosting option, I got a WordPress blog and just link to pics hosted over there. I don't think I have a bandwidth limit, as far as i know. And, if I did, I am sure I wouldn't get anywhere close to exceeding it (with my 2-3 visits per day)

Not trying to derail! Just waiting on the inevitable awesomeness.

"dpi" is actually a printing term and not really relevant for the file size you've uploaded. It stands for dots per inch and is only used to calculate how much information to cram into an inch when printed, thus affecting the quality of the print. For example, the same 1024x1024 pixel image can be printed at 100dpi or 200dpi. The size of the file stays exactly the same, one just prints half the size (ie. crams the same amount of information into half as much space, resulting in a higher quality picture, but smaller.)

Now, technically, you can edit the "dpi" setting of an image in most photo editing software to essentially change the file size, since the "print size" usually stays the same and thus it adjusts the pixel dimensions to match. (ie. a 200x200px image at 200dpi, changed to be 100dpi will essentially change the image to be a 100x100px image, assuming the print size remains the same since it's now printing half as much information over the same 1" area.)

All you really need to be concerned about is pixel dimensions and compression rates (for jpegs).

There, after that ordeal of downloading 280 MB for 32 photos, and resizing them all, it should be fixed.

That's a pretty intense battle going on in that barn. And it looks like a pile 'o wreck markers there too. Fun times! Although playing a game that lasts 6 hours with no concrete resolution sounds a little too much like Mk1 40k to me to be interesting (and from the Unbound reports I've seen, this seems to be the norm).

The problem is in how control points are scored; you have to hold the barn for a full ROUND without your opponent contesting. It's almost impossible. Get a single model inside the control zone, and no points are scored. That's the biggest flaw I see with the system.

Other than that, it's pretty cool. But, it's not like I'll play this size of game more than two or three times per year....
