    Default eMadrak 35 point list help

    To anyone who feels like giving friendly advice... I'm expanding my Trollblood army (tax return, woohoo!) beyond it's initial limits, which includes (finally) getting my Fenns, Burrowers, eMaddy, and a few other major pieces.

    I'm trying to put together a eMadrak list to test next week when my pieces get in, and I'm looking at testing this list. I'm not going to post a full list of the models I have, but any recommendations would be appreciated, and I'll respond back with whether or not I can make the change!

    (And for the record, no Champion Hero, and no Bomber - I'll go ahead and mention that since those two pieces are ones I would put serious consideration and/or autoinclude, particularly the Hero).

    Points: 35/35
    Madrak Ironhide, World Ender (*5pts)
    * Troll Impaler (5pts)
    * Dire Troll Mauler (9pts)
    * Trollkin Runebearer (2pts)
    Krielstone Bearer and 5 Stone Scribes (4pts)
    * Krielstone Stone Scribe Elder (1pts)
    Pyg Burrowers (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
    Trollkin Fennblades (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
    * Trollkin Fennblade Officer & Drummer (2pts)
    Fell Caller Hero (3pts)

    The part that worried me the most was really high def infantry; I wasn't sure I had a good way to deal with that. Wasn't sure if I should find a way to incorporate something, or if sheer volume of attacks (such as feat turn) would probably be enough to deal with most of those problems.

    The Impaler is doing nothing for you in this list. I would think about dropping KSB to min, removing the Impaler and adding an Axer. Axer will clear out swaths of shield guarded infantry (doing what the champ hero would do) and Rush for both Madrak and the Mauler is fantastic. That being said high def is going to give you fits, as you have no way of clearing it. Do you have kriel warriors or long riders?

    No Long Riders, and I didn't pick them up in this burst of purchasing because of price; had to make some choices in what I picked up.

    Impalers a good point; I kept him cause I like him a lot with pMadrak, but I forgot that pMad doesn't have snap fire. Those 2 shots had worked well for me, so I kept it.

    I've got the full unit of Kriel Warriors + the UA, but no cabers yet; I'll be getting them relatively soon, but I'll be dealing for a while without them. The axer would be nice because I can at least boost his attacks; it's not quite the same, but it's something.

    I would try to prioritize Cabers and Longriders (but only with Horthol) as purchases. They are some of our best and most reliable ways of dealing with high def outside of pDoomy Runeshaper swarms and Bombers. Cabers can slam their own KW grunts through high def infantry and pretty reliably kill them. Longriders do something similar.

    Aye, I was looking at cabers for two reasons: real world price and in-game points price. It's so much cheaper to get cabers than long riders that I really wanted to invest that direction for the time being.

    I also wanted the cabers (for this list, at least) because they get more benefit from eMaddy's spell list, particularly Blood Fury; full Kriels + cabers with that seems like it has a lot of really, really dirty potential.

    If I do max out the cabers, where should I drop? Single beast seems viable, if a touch risky, but the Impaler/Axer (Axer likely since I do like the recommendations) could be dropped probably, too.

    I could also drop the Krielstone, although I get very hesitant to do that in my meta because there's a decent amount of Cryx, so I see incorporeal a bit.

    -1 Impaler
    -1 Runebearer
    -1 KSB+SSE
    + Full Long Riders

    Yeah, I know how good the Runebearer is... But doing turn 2 Blood Furied Burrowers, followed by turn 3 Blood Furied Fenns + popping feat, then turn 4 Cav with blood furied impact attacks and regular attacks... is cruel.

    Also of note for Long Riders, the tall in the saddle rule for cavalry allows them to hit every model within 2" of them on feat turn. It's amazing.

    Yeah, I'd love to have some LR's... Just not sure when I'll get them. However, you're right; the line of Dygs + Fens + Long Riders, Blood Furied and one after another, is a whole different brand of evil.

    eMaddy's abilities and stat line are one of the reasons he's going to get massive playtime from me soon after getting him.
