GenCon 2012 event
I am looking to see if there will be any interested from the players in attending a GenCon event where we (The Empire Games group) runs our large 4 player map "Alien Annihilation". Please reply if you are interested and I can see how many if any events to schedule.

I would be interested, not sure yet if I'll be going to this year's Gen Con, but hope to be going. You may also want to post this over at teamcovenant.com, since that seems to be where a lot of the community posts.

Thanks, I'll post there as well.

Well not much response on the forums, so we won't be running a large map event at GenCon 2012

How did you pull together a four player map? This is interesting to me. I would love to be able to do this with my gaming group.

For this four player map (Alien Annihilation) I custom designed all of the graphics. First creating one large textured background at 300dpi to the size I wanted (34 x 34 in), then imported it into Adobe Illustrator and laid out the grid over top. I then created a series of terrain tiles at 300dpi and laid them out on the grid to create the city. Next I created the border frame and legend. Finally I exported the whole document out as a PDF an took it to a local printer to have it printed on vinyl. The whole process took me about 35 hrs over a course of 3 months. This go around was much quicker for me since I gained a lot of experience from creating the 8 player MP map in 2009 (Mayhem in Monument City) - that one took a lot longer since it was my first time around and it was twice as large at the 4 player map.
Laying out the tiles takes the most time and it is good to have a rough idea of what you want the city to look like. Also I considered balance of play when building the city as to not make one starting location have too much of an advantage over another one. The starting areas are all equal distance to each other and the center. All starting areas have one 2 square row that flows to the center of the map allowing for free monster movement to the center. For GenCon were were going to run the game with some special rules an points allocations as incentive's to the players to move to the middle of the map.
If you want to see a picture of the 4 player map, I have posted on the Team Covenant forum at : http://teamcovenant.com/forum/monste...on-2012-event/

Is there any chance you would share the completed 8player and 4-player pdf's with the Monpoc community? Perhaps host the images on BGG?
Also, I am hoping to design a custom map of a specific city - Toronto, my local metropolis. Any chance you could share with me the terrain tiles and other individual elements you laid in order to create your map. I'm willing to do a swap of sorts - if you e-mail me the individual elements, I'll send you back a completed custom Toronto map. scott <underscore> schelter <at> hotmail <dot> com
