    Default Dwarven Army

Does anyone play an all mercenary dwarf army? I like the models for some reason.

Probably get more replies asking this question in the WM Merc area. I've looked at Dwarf lists but haven't gotten any models together yet.

Used to run Searforge when I had mercs back in MK1, they were pretty darn fun, if not really competitive. But fun is all that matters ^_^

While they are stumpy dwarves, in the Iron Kingdoms they are "Rhulic", and work under the Searforge Commission contract.

You will get a lot more help in the Warmachine- Mercenary community forums, and there are a number of players that go Rhulic. Quite a lot of fun, actually (the models/ contract, and the people!)

YES. Now if you have not read the

The Searforge Commission - Keeping Rhulic Trade Intact Since 605 AR

thread then go do that now. Also unless I am mistaken Relasine has been succeeded by Rancor as the head of our Rhulic brotherhood and has his own site

    which discusses all things Rhulic.

Oh yes the models are sweet, and you can put together a nice hard-hitting force in Searforge, although you'll have some bad match-ups, and you are certainly not spoiled when it comes to the number of choices you can field. This however, is easily mitigated if you branch out into highborn. All your Rhulic choices can be taken in highborn, bar one, so you can do it anytime you feel like it.

I don't recognise Rancor as head of the brotherhood as he's too fanatical. I prefer my Dwarves with a level head. :P
Certainly Rancor should be considered head of PR though... lol

But yes lots of people (including me) play dwarves or nothing (and I don't generally take the easy way out and play Highborn (though Reindholt with Durgen is just too damned tempting sometimes)).

    Bzzt! Wrong answer!
Humans in the Iron Kingdoms are not "Cygnaric".
Dwarves are a species. Rhul is a nation. There are non-Rhulic Dwarves in mos of the nations of the IK.

Ehh... Yes and no. While "Dwarves are a race, Rhul is a nation" is true enough at first glance, The backstory on most of the dwarven communities outside of Rhul Proper protrays them as semi-autonomous enclaves with strong ties and loyalty to the homeland. Not quite extra-territoriality, and I think they still pay taxes to Cygnar (for instance) but if they were mistreated or came into conflict with their neighbors they're just as likely to appeal to the Moot as the local Govenerment, if not moreso.

Which makes sense, since they can trace the creation of both their race and their nation back to the advent of the ForgeFathers in Caen. When you can point and say, "My great-grandcestor was Shaped from the clay by my god, who created our clans and nation," and reliably prove it through records, petty things like Human nationalism probably has less of an affect than it does in real life. That's my impression, anyway.

In terms of the actual rules, while there may be non-rhulic dwarves somewhere in Immoren (though I think not) there certainly aren't any in Warmachine. If you're a Stumpy, you work for Searforge.

So far, all dwarves are Rhulic to my knowledge, even those outside the borders of Rhul, but not all Rhulics are dwarves.

    You'd also be a heretic.

Now, if you said something like "My great, great, great, great, great, (half an hour later), great, great, great, great grandfather was the God Udo." and reliably prove it through the records, then you are properly Dwarfy.

Ah, but I said grand-cestor, not grandfather! The multiple generations were implied by my portmanteau.

No, you said: Shaped from clay. Dwarves are made when a Daddy Stonefather and Mommy Claywife love each other very much...

    Back to original topic:
Been playing Searforge at a Slow Grow at my LGS....I'm loving every minute of Gorten and his merry band. So far 4-0 at the 15 pt level in the league. League + non-league is still a winning record overall. BUT, more importantly, they REALLY fun.

I'm mostly a Cygnar and Legion player and picked up Searforge as a "challenge," but I gotta say, they're SOLID, and you'll have a blast.
