Default A few things I'm unclear of

I just wanted to make sure that I am playing this correctly.

When the Stormclad uses tremor, he 1) choose to do it anywhere, even without a target. 2) it affects him also and you roll against your own definitely and 3) he can send up after by spending a focus.

    Is that correct?

Electroleap from stormguard happens after the initial model is killed or before? And it's only a damage roll not a new attack? Is this the same with the storm tower and the storm strider?

Um, the Ironclad has tremor, not the Stormclad, I don't think he could use tremor if there wasn't a target, although if there was a target in his back arc that he couldn't see then tremor could still be used, and if he could use tremor with no models in the effect, what would be the point? The Ironclad isn't affected by its own tremor, although it will affect your models that get caught in the tremor effect.

Spending a focus to stand up/shake effects in general happens during your maintenence phase, so if one Ironclad knocked another one down with tremor, the second Ironclad could not spend a focus to stand up as it wouldn't be your maintenence phase.

The electroleaps go off after the initial model is hit, not necesarily killed, it is just a straight damage roll, the attack autohits it works in the same manner as the storm tower, stormlances and storm strider (although the strider can boost these attacks if it has power tokens).

    1) No you don't need a target, you can do it anywhere. I'm not sure why you would, but you can.

    2) Doesn't knock down the model doing the tremor.

    3) You can only shake off a knockdown at the start of your turn during the maintenance phase.

Electro-leap is on successful hit, so you don't need to kill the model. Roll to hit, roll damage on attacked model. At this point don't remove the attacked model if it dies. Now determine which is the closest model within 4", this DOES include your models, but ignores the attacker. Voila! Instant auto-hitting pow 10's.

The ironclad's tremor attack does not require a target. However, it is a special attack, so you can only use it when you can attack. Also, the ironclad can use tremor on a charge. If you use Tremor on a charge, then you would need a target because a charge needs a target even if the tremor does not. Hope that helps.

My question about electroleap. Is that I play against menoth and their unit gets a buff to ARM for each that dies previously, so does the leap happen before the other guy dies and would they die at the same time (assuming they do die). And with the storm tower and strider do they happen at the same time (all the attacks) etc.

The Leap is resolved before the attack (since it happens at the "hit" step of attack resolution).

    Edit: Ninjaed

As per my understanding about how electroleap works, after the inital attack hits (not damages) the electroleaps occur, so they deal simultaneous damage, therefore the Knights Exemplar would not gain their bond of brotherhood bonuses as the damage is simultaneous, after one model has completed it's attack (and electroleaps) then the Knights Exemplar ability would activate for the models killed and they would receive their bonuses to armor and strength against the next models attack.

I'm fairly certain bond of brotherhood wouldn't activate between the initial model getting hit and models dying from electroleaps to provide an armor bonus against the initial attack.

I could be wrong, but that's how I've played it.

I concur. Electro leap and chain lightning operates as:

    1)Hit target 1
2)Leap to target 2, 3, and so on.
3)Resolves SIMULTANEOUS damage rolls on all models hit. Note, this means they get shield wall or defensive line, but not bond of brotherhood.
4)Remove the dead models from the board, noting souls, bodies, bond of brotherhood, etc.
    5) Chain lightning the survivors. Smug little white armoured monomaniacs deserve it.
    6) Avoid rolling so many leaps that you simulataneously kill yourself with your own chain lightning. This is embarrassing and gives your opponent a Mock token for next game.

It may be worth stopping at step 4 in some cases.

it's in the rules forum. Simultaneous attacks. For e leap it is as follows

    1. Roll to hit.
    2. Apply affects triggered on hit
    2. Find closest model within 4"
    3. Roll leap Damage
    4. Roll Initial Damage
    5. Apply Effects triggered on Damage
    6. Apply Effects from boxed, death, removed from play
    7. Attack with new model.

This basically means no arm buff until after all the models have been dealt damage. A better example of this is Siege's Groundpounder.

    1. Siege targets the unit.
    2. Roll to hit against every model.
    3. Roll damage against every model hit. (Against base armor here)
    4. Make tough rolls
    5. Remove models that fail tough or died.
    6. Models gain +ARM against further attacks that round.

For the unit that has self sacrifice (I mention it since you play against Menoth) they don't get to decide who gets to self sacrifice until all the models have had damage dealt to them. Hence a model that is killed by the simultanions attack is not eligable for self sacrifice ie. Removed to save another model.

This works the same for Thunderhead Pulse, AOE of any kind, Thresher.
    My advise to new players.
When you build a list, build something that if you have to play it five times in a row plays five different ways. Otherwise you're going to get bored fast. It's about enjoying the game first winning comes later.
