    Default TMA: Jack bullet

So what is behind this term. 'Cause I don't get it. How do you "align a jack bullet"?

  2. #2

    Default

For Cygnar, the 'jack bullet' generally refers to eHaley's stormclad.

With the bond, a telekinesis, a temporal acceleration, a charge, and Reach, it has a sick threat range and a pretty good shot at killing almost any caster at the end of it.

Lining up the jack bullet, then, mostly likely refers to using that initial telekinesis to make sure that the stormclad has a charge lane.

Other casters also use the "jack bullet." Kraye and pNemo in Cygnar, and probably others.

    Also appears with other factions.

A "jack bullet" is therefore any heavy (or even light) warjack that goes a very long way and kills something important.

The 'jack bullet' is firing a fully loaded heavy warjack at someone at increased speed. The more increased the better.

eHaley, pNemo, eNemo, Kraye and Darius are all well known for it. Although the term originated with pNemo. Certain solo's, most notably Lanyssa Ryssal and Captain Strangewayes can greatly enhance jack bullets.

    Typical Jack Bullets in Cygnar:
-eHaley w Centurion/Stormclad 3-4 Focus, Bond, Temporal Acceleration, TK = 15"+ of Threat range on a heavy w 4-6 attacks
    -Darius w Hammersmith 3 Focus, Full Throttle, Crane, Beat-back x 2, Chain:Attack Smite = 13.5-18.5" Threat w hopefully 3 auto-hitting POW 17s on their KD caster.
-Kraye w Centurion/Stormclad 3 Focus, Feat, Full Tilt, Easy Rider = 15-17" Threat w 4-5 Boosted attack rolls w Charge attack at +2 to hit.
    -pNemo w Centurion/Stormclad 5 Focus, Locomotion (3"), Upkeep = 12-13" Threat w 5 Focus on POW 20-21 attacks.

... Special Mention goes to Thorn, the character Lancer, who is quite a capable melee assassin. pNemo for example boosts Thorn's Threat to 17" w 3 Fully Boosted MAT 7 POW 15s. Others can do scary things as well.

you forgot the hammersmith with kraye:
Kraye w hammersmith, 3 focus, feat, full titlt, easy rider? = 13" threat, with boosted attack rolls, +2 on charge attack, 2X beat back 1 combo and then 3 more attacks from focus for a total of 6 hits at pow 17 if all go to the same target.

If my math isn't wrong a Hammersmith can cover up to (18+1d6)", or am I missing something. Here is how my formula is assembled:

    8" (full-tilt) + 5" (charge under Kraye's feat) + 1" (initial attack 1) + 1" (initial attack 2) + 1d6 (chain-slam with follow up) + 1" per bonus attack

Can Kraye cast full tilt on a jack marshalled jack?

Kraye + Sword Knights w/UA + Stormclad: Full Tilted Speed Pronto + Full Tilt Speed + Feated Charge + Melee Range = 27" or more than half the table
If all you want is one ranged attack from your 'Clad then its over 30" of threat range. Of course your jack only has its initial attacks and one pseudo-focus when it gets there, so a Hammersmith or Thunderhead may be a better option. Or just move a Centurion 16" with polarity field up each turn and use it as a point holder.

Unless I am completely missing a part of a rule that means Pronto + Full Tilt doesn't work like that.

    Full Tilt is battlegroup only.

Marshaling jacks in a Kraye list seems like a terrible idea in general.

I need to start bringing my cards in to work so I don't look silly on the forums. Most likely Pronto is one of the reasons that it is battlegroup only.

while is true that with full tilt feat and taking beat back and smal distance into account the hammersmith could in theory move 16" to 21" and then deliver 3 attacks boosted to hit, the conditions for achiving this are dificult, so I preffe to count it as 13# treath range with full attacks that coudl really put a dent on some jacks/warbeast

Or ehaley bonded hammersmith of doom for 4" + 3" charge + 2" Tele + 2" bond + 3" temp acc + 0.5" melee range + 1" push from arlen focused jack friend + 2" from initials + d6 combo + 3" for focus purchased attacks + 1" for temp acc attack. So 21.5" +d6. Not bad for a low point combo.
Remember, Ehaley is so powerful that her FEET can cut a caster in half...

    Wait what? sequence check:
Type A, aiming for the prize model with the last attack :
    1. 3 focus allocated
    2. cast temporal acceleration and telekinesis +2
    3. temporal acc. +2
    4. bond +2
    5. 4+3 charge (1. focus spent)
    6. +2*1 initial attacks
    7. +1d6 chain attack, smash, follow up. edited
    8. +1 focus bought attack against (2. focus spent)
    9. last attack bought from focus (last focus spent). You could advance another 1" here, but this would not really count as threat range as you have no attacks left.
    10. +0.5 reach
    11. last attack from temp.acc on your newly acquired target, sadly this isn't boosted
Sums up to 16.5+1d6" or 15.5+1d6" if you want the last attack boosted and provided you hit with all these attacks.

Type B, aiming for collateral damage on the prize model from the last attack:
    1. 2 focus allocated
    2. cast temporal acceleration and telekinesis +2
    3. temporal acc. +2
    4. bond +2
    5. 4+3 charge (1. focus)
    6. +0.5 reach
    7. +2*1 initial attacks, ideally attack roll boosted (2. focus)
    8. +d6+target_base_size chain attack slam
Sums up to ~17+d6, averaging to ~21.5" with a medium base slam target and provided you can target the slam (which is the trickiest part here). Damage would be auto-hitting 12+2d6 not boostable.

In both cases you can not use Arlan to provide focus since the jack already has 3, the Hammersmiths activation can not be interrupted after he spends his 3 focus to provide him with said focus. "Evasive action" would be a better choice with all that involved movement. You can not delay the combo strike either, because you have to make it immediately after your initial attacks.

The fastest Jack Bullet we have in faction is Kraye with Thorn. Arc Full tilt on to it and pop his feat for 6" (SPD) + 6" (Full Tilt) + 3" (Charge) + 2" (Feat) + 3" (Reaction Drive) + 2" (Reach) = 22" threat range on a charge.

hmm... I assume you would cast Pursuit through Thorn to trigger Reaction Drive, in which case you would sadly only have 2 focus left to allocate to him. Nets you boosted damage on the free-of-cost charge, you buy an extra attack and probably use the last focus to boost damage.

    7. chain attack -- this !! DOES NOT !! advance the Hammersmith since this is not a normal attack, it frees it up for further movement however.
    8. +1 focus bought attack against another model (2. focus spent)
    9. last attack bought from focus (last focus spent). You could advance another 1" here, but this would not really count as threat range as you have no attacks left.

Slam on Hammersmith allows follow up. It's the first thing on the card.

Thorn on pNemo can go almost as far (17") and hit with p+s 15 and 5 focus.

Why would you do that? Reaction Drive can only be triggered once per turn, and Arcing Full tilt on to Thorn will do that.

For an extra 2" threat you can use Lanyssa. Though she is far more likely to be found in a pNemo.

Wouldn't you have trouble getting her in range to cast her spell, since we're already talking about 17" + on the bullet.

Well she has 6" move and 10" range on Hunters Mark, so she only has to be a few inches in front of the jack.

Yes. Any spell point of origin - warcaster or spellcaster, normally - can target themselves with non-offensive spells that are not RNG SELF. That doesn't change when the PoO is an arc node. So a warcaster can put any non-offensive spell onto an arc node *through* that arc node, provided all the prerequisites for arcing are satisfied.
