Default What have we got that spooks other factions? And why?

I'm still fairly new and have been trying to brush up on the other factions and kep seeing names of units, solos, ect. Like OMG pDenny! or Ah Gun Mages, ect. And I have looked at them plenty to see why. But what do other factions have to fear of the red team? And im not talking HIgh arm values or the standard huff and puff. I'm just trying to look from the outside in.

Winterguard. High def, tough, and they'll wipe your board.

Doom Reavers. They're not hard to deal with, but you'll need a new pair of pants if they ever get near your army. I've seen a lone Doom Reaver one shot enemy warcasters on more than one occasion

Our casters, mostly Vlad, the Butcher and Karchev. I hope you still have most of your army left, because that's what it will take to kill them.

High DEF. Kayazy Assassins, WGI or Nyss Hunters with Iron Flesh can be stupidly hard to hit. This is probably the most annoying thing for people to deal with, especially Kayazy played with a 'caster who has IF and Fury or Battle Lust (pButcher and pIrusk).

Or you can go completely the opposite way: High ARM. Our basic 'jack chassis is ARM 20, Spriggans are 21, Devastators/Demolishers are 25, Shield Wall'd Shocktroopers are 21. By themselves they aren't too big of a threat, but when you start spamming a lot of armour, people start to struggle.

Then there are great all-round units such as Great Bears and IFP that can dish out a lot of damage while still being fairly versatile and tough to kill

Infantry Kayazy w/ UA, WDI w/ UA+Joe, Nyss (especially with the RA) are all amazing.

the new Kayazy 2-model unit is a pretty nice threat piece as well.

Behemoth always pulls out groans from opponents. Apparently they feel that 36 wounds at ARM 21 is excessive :P

Devastator can make some lists cry.

Dual WG Mortars w/ pVlad, pButcher, and Irusk often give people fits, especially if you have Kov Joe hanging out with them.

pVlad in general is groan worth. Between "Signs and Crutches" and Blood of Kings, folks tend to get good and mad at him

pButcher + Kayazy w/ UA is awesomely mean.

For me probably Karchev, Beast 09, Great Bears, and Kayazy Assassins w/ Underboss. I usually do pretty well with those.

anything really super offensive gets groans. Doom reavers, Kayazy, WGDS, any of our character jacks. Actually pretty much anything.

Massive amounts of high def infantry is our thing. We are currently more defined by what we don't bring to the table, but that is being discussed in another thread.

I played two new player with Karchev and also got jaw drops and "ah crap"

If only that translated to actual use as a warcaster.....

Doom Reavers are definitely groan worthy.

Add WG deathstar, Nyss Hunters or Kayazy Assassins.

Sprinkle with pIrusk, pVlad or pButcher.

Or go a totally different route and get Karchev + Behemoth + Beast 09 + a Devastator or Black Ivan.

Kayazy and Joe and the WGDS are the things I'm primarily jealous of/ look forward least to fighting. I am also envious of the Spriggan as both a Menite and a Retribution player.

The WGDS is the big one. Stupid high DEF, boosted sprays, crazy rockets. I'm convinced that Joe and the Winterguard UA were developed by seperate teams that never communicated with one another. Either one alone would be fine, but when put together they make the unit completely nuts.

Doomreavers are very fluff scary, but actually keeping them alive to do their job is easier said than done. I've never been all that worried about them. When Khador gets a caster with Revive I'll be a lot more scared.

Kayazi Assassins are nasty little buggers too, but not quite as scary as the Winterguard. At least high defense works against them (sort of), and they have to get into melee range to mess you up.

Nyss Hunters with Valchev are really really annoying though, since they get Iron Flesh and get to shoot and scoot (a little). Basically they just barely walk into range, shoot the crap out of something, then back up 3" to stay out of my range.

On the other end of the scale is the humble MoWST. A single unit is usually a waste, as everything else the army outruns them and they don't hit especially hard, but when you're fighting an army made up almost entirely of them they get really scary. It may be slow, but an army like that is nigh impossible to take down, and the lackluster hitting power is not a problem when you have multiple turns to chip away at your opponents while their attacks uselessly bounce off of their armor.

In my experience, no other model or groups of models causes so much panic to the enemy as The Great Bears I can't count the times my opponent has over committed resources to taking them down (and thus giving me an advantage)

Winterguard death star (infantry+UA+Joe+ Iron Flesh). I'd say that's far and above the scariest one, the one most people at my store complain about, and the one I complain about the most when facing mirror. Kayazy Assassins have to close to be effective. WGDS just do everything - well.

This may be a personal thing, but I remember hating the Spriggan when I was mainly playing Cryx. Why is such a beat stick also good at removing stealth? For his points he's amazing.

There's a lot of other stuff that rises the ire of people every once in a while, but those two are consistent (even if hating on the Spriggan is consistent only from me).

The people I play with actually really hate the MoW Drakhun. I've had the model for months and I'm still getting "Armor What? That's stupid. No horse should have that" And stuff like that. It's tough to get rid of, and I've had it one-shot a focus-camping Asphyxious from full health with battle lust on it, which is entirely ridiculous.

Disclaimer for all you average-rollers out there: I didn't roll average in that example. I rolled a bunch of 4-6s, and it was so sweet.
But you probably shouldn't listen to me, I'm terrible at this game.

I find people cry when pbutcher is fielded period lol. Also I have really gotten some hate/fear towards Spriggan as well. Most people dont know how great he really is till he dismembers there jack. I charged a Menoth Avatar jack this past wednesday and took his arms and movment out in one turn lol. Needless to say he was not happy.

For pure "Oh Crap..@$Q$#@!#" factor - Doom Reavers

For complete and utter focus on killing it with all resources possible - Beast 09

And for pure hatred in their eyes when they ask which caster I am bringing - Karchev

kayazy: how I hate my friends kayazy, the models look ugly which makes me want to hit them so much more but with the stupidly high def i cant.
very good unit, I just wish the models matched up to there rules in looks. a man can dream

    Joe + wintergurd(any flavor works)

Old witch and Scrapjack. there is nothing she and her companion cant do to any kind of infantry unit no matter how wide you spread out

seeing a brick of BDIFP. then kayazy/fast unit that hits hard behind them or of to one side during any khador defensive feat turn.

pVlad, Signs & Portants with boosted dmg rolls from shootie Jacks. Enemies get within 14", and then you can kill their big boy with 2 Jacks. 14+4d6-1d6 dmg = brutal. Also WGDS with Kovnik Joe and S&P is nasty. All those sprays flying out at RAT 5+4d6-1d6 almost never misses. 10+3d6-1d6 dmg will wipe out most infantry, especially since your hitting each guy multiple times.

Now there's a fun idea for Epic Zerkova...

That being Said, I find that the Behemoth makes the enemy flinch just a little. it's not just the 36 hp, plus the 21 armour, it's offensive potential gives them fits too. I brought it to a 30pt Unlikely Alliance matchup, and after BigB failed to kill Typhon (Poor rolls, and Excessive Healing) the enemy side devoted virtually thier entire turn to taking it down.

High ARM spam. Be it Karchev spamming cheap warjacks or MoW spam, most factions simply can't dish enough damage to be able break the army, and, our caster being tough as they are, assassination isn't always an easy option either.

High-DEF infantry backed up by high-ARM warjacks, all led by a Warcaster that can finish the game by themselves if desperate. It really is as simple as that.

I find they start groaning as soon as they find out I'm playing Khador as it means I will probably shrug off or ignore many of their tricks and will probably be bombarding them in to the ground ^_^.

As for units that I've been told they hate seeing across from them are the usual suspects Behemoth , Beast , WGIDS. Really most of my units they hate for one reason or another - hell they even groan at my Wardog as he's won me quite a few games by just what we brings to the table for one point.
