    Default Your favorite list

    Not sure if this should be in the list forum or not. Title says it all, Whats your favorite list? better yet is your favorite list and why it is. It could be a tourney list, a general list, mangled metal, or any style of play. Try to keep critiquing to a minimum, this is more for sharing what you like as opposed to list "improvement".

    Starting off I'm new but have had good luck at 35pts with:
    pButch
    War Dog
    Spriggan
    Doom Reavers + UA
    eEiryss
    min Kayazy + UA
    Kell Bailoch
    Widowmakers

    Between the melee threat of Doomies and Kayazy, along with the range of Kell, the Widowmakers, and utility units eEiryss and Spriggan its been a great all comers list for me. Ive been playing with other lists but I keep coming back to this one. I cant forget to mention the awesomeness that is Butcher. All can seem lost but a good round with the axe wielding maniac and the tables can quickly shift.

    Definitely eButcher's theme list for me. I've got a couple variants that I love, but this one's probably the most balanced:

    eButcher
    Devastator
    War dog
    4x Doom reavers
    1x Doom Greylord escort
    Fenris
    Yuri

    I like the devastator to screen butcher and take care of things like kayazy. Plus he's awesome at scenario, which makes the list even more awesome at scenario. Yuri's there so I have something with pathfinder, in case I run into inhospitable ground or something I still have a long range assassination threat.

    Doom Reaver 6
    Doom Reaver 6
    Doom Reaver 6
    Doom Reaver 6

    eVlad (5)
    Drago (-8)
    Berserker (-6)
    war dog (-1)
    full IFP + IF UA (-10)
    full IFP + BD UA (-10)
    the Great Bears (-5)
    full IF Uhlans (-11)
    Markov (-4)

    50 points of nothing but shoulderpads (yes, the dog got tricked out ).

    It's not a bad list, but I play it more for the fluff than anything else. It's my prefered option when I can get a 50-point game in at the LGS, which is not often enough by half. Been meaning to try out the anti-CR lists I came up with a while ago as well:

    Character Assassinations (50 points x2)

    pVlad +5
    -Drago -8
    -the Behemoth -13
    min Iron Fang Pikemen with Black Dragon UA -7
    Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters (min) -7
    - Valachev -2
    the Great Bears of Gallowswood -5
    Fenris -5
    Saxon Orrik -2
    Lady Aiyana & Master Holt -4
    Gorman di Wulfe -2

    Karchev the Terrible +5
    -Beast 09 -11
    -Black Ivan -10
    -Torch -10
    Greygore Boomhowler & Company (full) -9
    Alexia Ciannor & the Risen -5
    eEiryss, Angel of Retribution -3
    Kell Bailoch -2
    Orin Midwinter -2
    Harlan Versh -2
    Reinholdt, Gobber speculator -1

    Heart of Darkness.
    Versatility, hitting power, medium based multi-wound infantry, and the puppy. The only thing its missing are mechaniks.
    It's one of those theme forces that improves almost everything in it. Man-O-Wars get a much needed boost up the field, Manhunters get to be even sneakier, and the 'jack benefit is just phenomenal for our big hunks o' metal.

    My favourite is Lord Aries (from listology) 35p "pButcher the Trinity" with just a tiny tweak.

    pButcher
    Dog
    Kodiak
    Juggernaut
    Marauder
    Greatbears
    Full Kayazy+UA
    eEiryss

    The original list had Yuri instead of Eiryss but I have a hard time getting any mileage out of him and generally find Eiryss more useful. This list is so much fun, I just love it. For a new gamer like me it's straight forward and easy enough for me to get my head around it but it's not without some tactical depth! And I just love the face of my opponents as they realise they'll be up against IF Kayazys!

    Since I am trying to learn and really get used to using Karchev's tiers the ones I use are:

    In 15 point games I prefer one of the two lists:
    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Karchev - Iron Curtain
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 15/15
    Tiers: 1
    Karchev the Terrible (*5pts)
    * Juggernaut (7pts)
    * Juggernaut (7pts)
    Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 3 Grunts) (2pts)
    Greylord Ternion (Leader and 2 Grunts) (4pts)

    or

    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Karchev - Iron Curtain
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 15/15
    Tiers: 1
    Karchev the Terrible (*5pts)
    * Juggernaut (7pts)
    * Juggernaut (7pts)
    Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 2 Grunts) (6pts)

    At 35 points I go with a light ersion of my 50 point list:
    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Karchev - Iron Curtain
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 35/35
    Tiers: 4
    Karchev the Terrible (*5pts)
    * Destroyer (8pts)
    * Juggernaut (6pts)
    * Juggernaut (6pts)
    Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 5 Grunts) (3pts)
    Greylord Ternion (Leader and 2 Grunts) (4pts)
    Man-o-war Bombardiers (Leader and 2 Grunts) (7pts)
    Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 2 Grunts) (6pts)

    and at 50 points I find myself somewhat hemmed in as far as my capabilities with handling troops as you can see below:
    System: Warmachine
    Faction: Karchev - Iron Curtain
    Casters: 1/1
    Points: 50/50
    Tiers: 4
    Karchev the Terrible (*5pts)
    * Destroyer (8pts)
    * Devastator (8pts)
    * Juggernaut (6pts)
    * Juggernaut (6pts)
    Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 5 Grunts) (3pts)
    Greylord Ternion (Leader and 2 Grunts) (4pts)
    Man-o-war Bombardiers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (11pts)
    Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 4 Grunts) (9pts)

    I find that the more points the game is the worse Karchev seems to do as at the 15 pt range it is like smacking my opponent with a pewter brick and at the higher point range of 50 he seems to struggle due to the amount of infantry on the field that he has no really answer for except bricking up.

    I like these lists for balanced, general, all purposeness.

    eSorscha
    Behemoth
    10 Winter Guard w/UA + 2 Rockets
    10 Kayazy Assassins w/UA
    Aiyanna and Holdt
    Kovnik Joe
    Sylas Wishnailer
    35

    And then at 50:

    eSorscha
    Behemoth
    Spriggan
    10 Winter Guard w/UA + 3 Rockets
    10 Kayazy Assassins w/UA
    Aiyanna and Holdt
    Kovnik Joe
    Sylas Wishnailer
    Saxon Orrik
    Gorman de Wulfe
    50

    If I had to go into a game blind I'd probably bring either this or pIrusk (which is similar, with Black Ivan + eEiryss instead of Behemoth, and Nyss with Valachev instead of WGI, then the rest of the support).

    I've become a sucker for Vlad2's theme:

    Vlad----------------------------+5WJP
    Drago---------------------------8
    Spriggan------------------------10
    Wardog-------------------------1
    Min Ironfang Pikemen w/UA------7
    Great Bears---------------------5
    Max Uhlans----------------------10
    Max Uhlans----------------------10
    Markov--------------------------4
    50pts @ Tier4

    It's just so bloody fast and aggressive, and the Tier bonuses make that much more so.

    The list I've been playing a lot of lately, and is quickly becoming my favorite list is:

    35pt pSorcha
    Wardog
    Destroyer
    Doom Reavers w/ UA
    Doom Reavers
    Nyss Hunters w/ Valachev
    Reinholdt
    pEiryss

    The list is superb for assassination runs, relying mostly on shooting for the kill. Yes, pSorcha does have a really nice 19" threat range for melee, but I find that your opponent rarely leaves a direct line open between casters making ranged assassination more likely. Between her feat, two boosted pow 12 hand cannon shots because of reinholdt, a boosted pow 14 from the destroyer, and a just in case pow 10 disrupter bolt from pEiryss can leave casters hurting and players on-tilt. If you fail to kill the opposing caster (which usually happens on your turn 2), they are disrupted for the next turn and can't allocate focus to their jacks, leaving them with very few means of retaliation against pSorcha, and even if they can retaliate, they won't have the access to focus to boost it to actually hit Sorcha giving you a second turn to either wreck havoc with your the doom reavers/nyss hunters, assassinate, or bounce Sorcha to a control point to start winning by scenario.

    That being said this list totally flops against hordes, so be prepared for a fight. The doomies can help bring the beasts down and the nyss can deal pretty well with the infantry, but pEiryss is almost useless, and assassination is basically off the table until the game is almost already won. So bring a second list that can deal with that stuff better.

    Also, people will laugh at/ignore the destroyer, but its the cheapest bombard jack we have and is one of the key pieces in the assassination run. I can't stress this enough when I say that the destroyer will win you games. Most people will immediately suggest the behemoth instead but to do that you need to either drop the nyss to a min unit, or loose valachev and the doomies UA. I'd personally rather have the behemoth in my list dedicated to fighting armor/needs the fire power. Valachev's zephyr is super important on the assassination turn as it lets your nyss get a little further up the field or get out of melee to clear a line of sight for Sorcha.

    It looks flimsy, but try it. If your opponent doesn't know what's coming (and often even if they do), you'll still get the win.
