This is the Vaults Big One, 3rd Annual Tier 4 Event.

Saturday, June 30

This event caps out at 30 people.

It is a Steamroller 2012 event, so you will need reinforcements and there will be different scenarios each round. Yes, normal character restrictions will be used (please see steamroller rules) and you may bring up to two lists.

Variants that will be used from the steamroller rules:
We will be using Chess Clocks for timing (so there are no ties in the rounds we will have clear winners and losers).

Theme Forces: Tier 4 Required (all lists must be Tier 4). A few people will be checking list for all requirements, please have the steamroller sheet filled out (http://privateerpress.com/organized-...er-tournaments) before you arrive so we can do this as quickly as possible. Also a photo copy of the tier list(s) your using is not required but either you will need to have your book or you'll have to hope we have reference material. It is not our responsibility to bring the rules for your tier list though I will bring all the books I have for reference. If I can not verify a tier list it can not be used.

Cost: $15

I'm still adding up costs, so the lunch issue is still up in the air. The mall food court is very close for people between rounds as well as a few other fast food restaurants.

We will be doing a preregistration for this. The current thought is that you put down an amount of money ($5), this non refundable, but it holds your spot until the day of at 9:50 am (after that we will let anyone else who is waiting to get in) and will be applied to your registration.

Time: 10 am Sharp. The store will be opening at 8 am to accommodate everyone's arrival and check in. If we get the turn out we got last year, it will be 5 rounds. To get a clear winner we will need to play them all, so we will have to get started and move quickly.)

We have a few prizes in mind for this event. The first big one is that we are getting the steamroller trophies. These are very nice if you've never seen them in person. We are working with advance deployment to get some nice handouts for everyone. Also depending on turnout we will be doing door prizes of store credit, so just showing up you can win something. This is all I can announce at this time (will try to get more up asap).

We are also going to do a players choice award, Players will each get one vote (no voting for yourself) to write who brought the best army in there opinion (maybe you like the paint job, some of the conversions and/or the theme lists they brought). There is a special prize for the winner but as its a public vote I will not announce what the winner will get.

Can we get a full rundown of the specifics of the tournament? I'm planning to make it out there for the festivities and I need to know: 1 or 2 lists, character restrictions, reinforcements, etc.

With my con travel curtailed this year I am hoping to make this my big event for the summer.

It would cool to pull you out to this, but I understand the distance problem.

Its been brought to my attention that next year maybe do a 2 day event. Saturday would be the first few rounds of the tier 4 tournament then we'd cut the top 16 for day two. Everyone else can then play in a blood, sweat & tiers on sunday while the finals go on or just play pick up games. I don't know yet, but if you like or dislike this idea let me know.

Personally I wouldn't mind the second day since this is the big event of the year. I could stay over. However, on the whole I think it could hurt attendance and create drop out issues. We're two hours away. Dan is three hours away. ForesakenPoptart is four hours away. If people from far away qualify for the second day I could see a lot of those dropping out rather than coming back for the second day.

Contrary to Dan's position, making it a two day event would probably make me more inclined to come out- I really like my sleep, and I get cranky if I'm going into a tourney exhausted. I don't mind splitting a hotel room with 2-3 other people, so staying the evening wouldn't be too expensive.

Rob also wanted told me to let you guys know, that besides the Storm Wall we are planning to raffle away to some who plays in the event that day.

But he's planning on holding a raffle for another Storm Wall, he's going to sell $5 tickets, to which players can buy as many as they want. Then he will pull one lucky winner. Should be interesting.

I thought I'd put up my tentative schedule for the day:

8am-9:55 Event Check In, List Verification, etc
10am-12pm Round 1
12-12:30pm Lunch
12:30-2:30pm Round 2
2:30-4:30pm Round 3
4:30-6:30pm Round 4
6:30-7pm Dinner
7-9pm Round 5

Rounds aren't really going to take 2 hours. Each player has 53 minutes of time, even with set up. So if you finish early you can easily wonder over to the food court at the mall (Subway, McDonalds, Panera, Chineese Food, Mexican burrito, Charley's subs, Pizza, Chick-fila are what I can think of), we are 3 doors down from a buffalo wild wings. On our side of 30 near the mall is a ground round, Longhorn, Pepperwood grill. In close driving distance is a wendys, duncan donuts, eat & park, KFC and taco bell. The store also has menus for pizza/sub joints. The store does have soda, water and candy it sells.

Just wanted to give people an idea of time frame and food situations. Any more info I get I'll will post up. Any comments or questions please post.

Also, just to clear this up now. Nemo3 and storm wall will not be useable in the event. Nemos list is in a book that isn't released and storm wall & colossal rules are spread all over since again the book isn't out. I don't think this will effect many but I wanted it to be know. I look forward to next year being colossal/gargantua heavy.
