    Default Kaelyssa 35pts (help vs. cryx)

    Kaelyssa +7
    -Phoenix 10
    -Manticore 8
    Halberdiers 7
    -UA 2
    -Soulless 1
    MHSF 8
    -UA 2
    eEiryss 3
    Arcanist 1

    I used this list against cryx but got pretty much stomped (mostly because of pgaspy's feat. afther that it seemed like i could come back but a bile thrall killed most of my remaining infatry, and I think breath of corruption could have done similar damage).

    It just seems like he had so many anti-infantry stuff that I couldn't really move them around much (some bad deployment on my part didn't help, either) and if i did, they would definitely pretty much all die next turn.

    so how do you play against strong anti-infantry lists? do you forget about shield wall on the halbs (to counteract purge + breath of corruption) or do you keep them in groups of 2 or 3 so they benefit from ARM 18 against single shots/pgaspy-feat-like things?
    I went with moving them up in groups of 2 and keep them far appart, which protected most of them against pgaspy feat (the MHSF were wiped out for all but 2) but then a didn't manage to kill all of the biles and the surviving one just purged 80% of my remaining halbs.

    as for MHSF, should I spread them out really far? (i.e. 2 groups of 5 and the UA in the middle of the 2 to allow them to stand really far appart, allowing them to go after arc nodes (which they just can't hit...))

    also, against tough characters like pgaspy, should I go for assassination or attrition? I didn't see much of a chance for assassination, but If I think about attrition I don't see how I could win that. (mainly because of his arc nodes + anti-infantry)

    I guess the arc nodes are also one of the bigger problems, how do I take them out the best? ghost snipers? (I used eiryss against one and tried to engage the other but that only delayed the doom by a turn)

    Should I change my list a bit? (e.g. drop soulless, drop MHSF to min and get something else for the points, such as 2MHA, Ghost Snipers or a Thane to take out the arc nodes?) (In the end, though, I think my list is fine and that I just have to improve my play somehow. but If I can do something list-wise that would still help (and it might make the list more all-comer for when I meet hordes))

    (kk, enough random rambling^^)

    Try invictors with Kae, they hit MUCH more reliably.

    You have a lot of anti spell stuff, he shouldn't be hitting you with spells.

    Also pop the arcnodes with eEiryss so they can't arc.
    Sig Changed at Ed's request, he's still my fav though.

    I like Halbs, but I always beat myself up when I take them and I see Bile Thralls. The good news is that with Reform, you get a fair amount of threat, and you can use this to jam up his plan. Invictors do hit much more reliably and I like them in this match up, but not necessarily in general. Combined Arms will make sure you put down those bone chickens and you can really reach out and touch any target.

    With Kae, magic shouldn't be much of a problem. Don't forget Witch Hound.

    Honestly, eGaspy is a bad matchup in general. The best you can do is kill the bile thralls at range, use Kae's anti-jack tech to shut down the arc nodes, and try to win on scenario.

    Ossyan is our best guy vs eGaspy, you can RFP his whole army to shutdown his feat.

    Good point. That may be a better route.

    I'll probably try invictors as soon as I get some, then. They are also better against hordes compared to MHSF, right?

    (btw. it was against pGaspy, no eGaspy)

    No they are not better vs hordes than the MHSF, everytime someone says that to you, you should cut their tongue off.

    The MHSF doens't kill warbeasts like they do jacks, that part is true.

    But they pick of support pieces and clear infantry like no one else.

    Many hordes lists rely on support models to make the list sing, the MHSF can pick these off better than anything else in the game, you can't hide from them they don't need LOS.

    Those paingivers for skorne, pick those off, the beasts do less damage now.

    In legion, the shepherds and forsaken, without them they can't force their beasts as much so now they can't run them hot or they frenzy.

    Vs trolls you can pick off the krielstone, the fell caller janissa stonetide, all of these things that make their lists shine.

    In circle those annoying druids crumple to them, as does the wilder, and just about any of their other infantry. (except the stealthed ones)

    I usually bring Invictors with Kaelyssa because they reliably hit high defense soft targets really easily while moving ( Cryx arc nodes are their usual first target). I generally don't bring MHSF with her because of all her usual list inclusions for me their threat range without Ravyn usually means they have to move a lot, and RAT 6 isn't bad, but I usually don't hit anything with them unless aiming. (My personal experience with bad dice.....)

    I like the current list a lot, I would say if you keep the MHSF I would drop the halbies in favor of Sentinels. They help Ret put down beasts, which vs Hordes is usually the way you have to beat them, the Phoenix will be to busy arc noding most turns for you to reliably use it to crack armor, how about this:

    I included Aiyana and Holt so you can help ensure backlash with the MHSF or help vs. Choir.

    Kaelyssa, Night's Whisper +7 points
    * Phoenix 10 points
    * Sylys Wyshnalyrr, The Seeker 2 points

    Arcanist 1 point
    10 Dawnguard Sentinels 9 points
    * Sentinel Officer & Standard 2 points
    * 1 Soulless Escort 1 point
    Eiryss, Angel of Retribution 3 points
    Lady Aiyana & Master Holt 4 points
    10 Mage Hunter Strike Force 8 points
    * Mage Hunter Commander 2 points
