    Default Cyclone Question

This might be more of a rules question but I figure it's more of a Cygnar question because it deals with a specific piece. I have the heavy warjack box that allows me to pick between the cyclone, defender or ironclad. I already have an ironclad so I'm trying to decide between the cyclone and defender options. The question relates to the cyclone model. It has the metal storm twin cannons. It's special rule states that at the beginning of the models action phase it can roll a D3 and that determines the ROF for the cannon. The question is, do I roll a D3 for each cannon or is the D3 for both cannons? It seems to me that if I don't roll the D3 that I'm still going to get two attacks, one with each cannon. So the most the perk is ever going to give me is 1 additional attack if the D3 is for both cannons and it could even short me one attack in some cases. So as far as I can tell the D3 roll should be done for each cannon which could potentially give the model up to six ranged attacks in 1 action. Is that correct and if not someone please let me know how that perk really works. Thanks.

Yes, the Rapid fire ability is on both cannons so you roll a D3 for each of them.

NB strictly speaking it doesn't increase the ROF it gives you that many initial attacks ... if it increased the ROF you'd have to buy attacks with focus ... .

Thanks for that. I always mix up the ROF and initial attacks terminology. I think that metal storm perk just made the decision for me though. A model that could potentially roll 6 ranged attacks could be devastating against enemy infantry. In addition it still has two fists to make melee attacks with if needed. Thanks again.

That and the covering fire templates make it a decent help against infantry.

Or you can magnetize the bits and have all three if you want.

Seriously... there are times you would rather have a defender then a Cyclone, and having a choice between the two is nice.
Im starting to get rather tired of PP making things that I have to buy. Seriously, cant they just start putting less cool stuff out for me to throw cash at?

    Sidenote:
As all those rapid fire shoots are still seperate attacks they can be boosted or otherwise affected individually (i.e. choose seperate rune shoot if marshaled by the ATGM for every shot)
    Won:31 Lost:26 Tie:13 - Bad ratio, but at least I'm honest

Is it really that good? I bet with Rangers in the list, you won't miss all that often either.

How did it work for you? What type of infantards were they?

The first 'caster I used my Cyclone with was Sloan and I've never looked back. On her feat turn, he is a monster! With that said, my favorite 'jack is still the Defender, because when you want something dead, I just feel the Defender does it better.
