Default Goreshade proxies for a friend

    Hi Guys

I need your Help! A friend of mine whom I've gamed with for years (WHF and RPGS mainly) has shown an interest in Warmachine, and Cryx/Goreshade in particular. He is coming over for an intro game on Sunday and I need some help proxying a list for him.

I only have access to Cryx rules/models from Prime, and Goreshade will be the caster, can you guys suggest a 25point list based on this? I have enough models to proxy whatever jacks/infantry are needed

I'll also try and run a battlebox game or two.

    Thanks guys!

this will give him a chance to see a lot of the aspects of cryx

seether to get to know jacks
bane thralls to get to know melee
    tartarous...bc hes awesome
    wws for support models

Seeing as he mentioned Prime, I would think this is about pGoreshade. That said, I have no idea what pGoreshade likes to bring, since I've never played him.

I did mean pGoreshade but it serves me right for not being specific.

Would anything much change by using p instead of e shade?

    If you ONLY have prime...

    pGoreshade
    Seether
    Slayer
    Full Bane Thralls
    Full Bane Thralls

If you have the stats for these models, this is a bit better list to learn with (but not optimized of course)...

    pGoreshade
    Slayer
    Stalker
    Full Bane Thralls
    Bane Attachment
    Tartarus
    Machine Wraith
    Pistol Wraith
    Warwitch Siren

pGoreshade loves focus-efficient jacks, and sadly there aren't any in Prime.
Also, he's not IN Prime, so that'll make it a little difficult.

If I was building from Prime, I'd take
    Goreshade & Deathwalker
    Reaper
    Slayer
    Deathripper
    Satyxis Raiders (max)
    Bane Thralls (min)
    Necrotech
for 31 points - it gives him a couple of different threats, and a funky option for Soulgating things if so desired. He'll want to keep Shadowmancer up a LOT, though.

If I was building a 25 point list for a newbie, without the Prime restriction:
    Goreshade & Deathwalker
    Seether
    Harrower
    Warwitch Siren
Mechanithralls (max) + 3 Brute Thralls
    Necrosurgeon & Stitch Thralls

The Warwitch runs the Harrower most of the time via Power Booster, until it can run itself with souls.
Honestly, Goreshade doesn't actually do much for Bane Thralls, other than creating them via feat. Shadowmancer even takes away the most important reason for taking them - you have access to an alternate source of Dark Shroud.
Use the feat banes to kill an enemy heavy, or to keep Goreshade alive, and use the Deathwalker to debuff enemy infantry so the Harrower and Seether can slaughter them.

The mechanithralls are your tarpit, and also a punchy unit, but the key reason for including them is that they are a load of fun to play. Zombie horde is aces.
More importantly, they help get your jacks up the field. Seethers are amazing jacks, but get shot to pieces and are a little pillowfisted - Goreshade solves both issues with Shadowmancer, and can sacrifice Mechanithralls to Soulgate it out after failed assaults, if you're careful with focus.

Dagnabbit! Not sure what I can do then really, he is pretty sold on Goreshade. Does he appear in any non-force books in mk2? (Longshot I know)

Thanks everyone for chiming in with tips and stuff, I'll try and rustle up the p/egoreshade card from someone and see what I can do about getting my friend hooke... I mean interested in the game.
I'll try and post back here with how it all goes

Nope, unfortunately not, he's in The Cryx Forces book, and if you are looking at MK1 rules, he was in the first expansion, unfortunately.

As far as what to run with him, he was one of my favourites back in the day, I recall him costing 80pts(MK1 you had to pay for Warcasters) and the Bane unit he makes costed 82pts, heh.

I don't recall what spells he lost/gained in the transition, though he always had Mage Blight, and that was his big thing really. Just go with 'More banes', apply them to your opponent's head neck and shoulders, there's little they can't kill really. Toss in a Reaper if you wanted to reel in a target for the Banes earlier.
