Sentinel is a very good idea,as you wrote at the end of your Harkevich video. Sleet is right, tho Gallant with his shield guard (and a large base) might be what you need.
Try switching Defender for Gallant- they cost the same and there's less to worry about with Gallant when shooting at Eyriss as the shot can only scatter so far.

So in that video (Harkevich one) you moved Darius into the middle of your army on your turn 3- and got shot up to single hit point- you had little choice indeed- if Darius stays back, you can't support your army ,if you go forward then you get your ...behind shot up...
Imagine Gallant at that same spot you had Defender- and Darius right behind him in BtB. Not only would Eyriss be unable to target Darius over Gallant's larger base Gallant has shield guard even if something goes horribly wrong.

Grind scenario looked like fun, wha happens when models are hit with the ball? Collateral and knock down?

    Yup.

After more playtesting the pillars are going to be moved up another 3 inches to be 10 from the board edge.

That ret game was rough, an anti-jack list against Darius is a rough go.

Tough going there, feedback sucks (although skarre+satyxis do it even worse)

seeing as how you got such a decent amount of jacks and the stormwall I'd strongly suggest giving Kraye a spin (I guess you can't change caster for the league though?)

I've thought about Kraye, but I can't see him doing more than Nemo2 can. I mean he can get them up the field quickly, but he can only hand out so much focus where as nemo2 maxes out them all.

YOU are an inspiration. BTW, liked your youtube wideo for High elves in 8th- would love another one as I'm starting that army.

Back to topic- Your Darius gameplay has greatly improved

I love Full-Throttle & MAT 7 Warjacks. It's just so nice to be able to look at a bunch of infantry and say "COMING THROUGH!!!"

Well done with the last bat-rep. Short, sweet and clear.

Nice eye on the caster kill there as I can see it could be all too easy to throw your arms in the air when you get circled and a lot of jacks killed. . Thanks again and good luck.

Also I see that your pulling a few caster kills with the last few reports. I guess when you have mostly jacks and they alpha you you need to draw a line to their caster as you'll be hard pressed to win the attrition game.

That's an interesting point. When I first got the army I assumed I would be mainly going for attrition, but once you master power moves and your other options I'm finding caster kill much easier.

It's almost like your forcing them to go "all out" to crack through that many jacks and by doing so you open up a lane through clever moves to get to their caster. Atm I can only see you run a attrition game if you start including more troops to your list.

Well i can say that after zero games with Darius but I just got him so I'll be able to join you soon.

Me? I'm thinking of runing maybe two to three jacks max and then a bunch of troops. Use them to soak up a charge and then follow through with the big hitters. That said your list looks like some fun.

Very nice Darius vs. Karchev report. I'm a big fan of Darius, and will most likely be trying out a similar battle in the near future with my friend -- an avid Karchev fan. Thanks for the inspiration for the game.

FYI, Arlan Strangeways would be very nice in this list of yours. He'd be fitting in style & purpose, and even fluff.

    Best,

Bad luck ol boy but thanks again for posting.

The Sword Kights on the left would have been better if they were in Defensive Line when you were trying to intimidate those Striders? Also Shield Guard is handy although if Gallant gets engaged then he can't Shield Guard anymore.

Hi Malorian, I must say I enjoy your Darius battle reports very much, was great to see that you've already tried him on the new SR2013 rules. I was expecting to see Darius steamroll over Abyslonia but she caught you off guard. I've personally tried the Darius tier build and you basically want Centurions and Swordknights and almost nothing else, you can even Marshall the Centurions to the Swordknight's UA as it would not affect his feat, and play a other jacks, would recommend hammersmith to clear up front lines, but nice attempt.

I would highly recommend the journeyman, I play Darius in a similar fashion but you simply can't leave him on < arm 21 it opens him too much to assassinations. On arm 21 I've never died, came close a few times, but it forces assassination attempts to over commit. For fun I would also suggest adding in "The Seeker", "Lanyssa Ryssal", the "Devil Dogs" have proven quite a bit of fun, and PK+UA backline can add substantial collosal killing power to the list, if you have some covering fire, mines to deter the enemy.

I've tried the Gallant a few times, def 13 is definitely something, but generally most beasts have the fury to not care about it or simply are fit for the job, the shield guard would have saved you in affect 4 hp, which if you think about it, an above average roll can easily negate and a his sword is a little under powered form my taste. Would you really want to invest in a Gallant 8pts tier bonus rather than spending essentially 6pts on Jnr an be safe?

@Calibre - As much as Centurions are amazing, I'd highly recommend keeping the Thunderhead with Darius. It's a key piece for infantry removal and 2-h-throws. Plus, it's got a decent ranged weapon with RoF3. Other than that, I think think your advice is very good. I also highly recommend the JWC with Darius. Bringing AS on the Sword Knights & UA for the initial engagement and then swapping the AS to another target (usually Darius) after that is a great way to bring some excellent ablative survival to the list.

I'd be interested in Gallant actually. I think Gallant would be a solid addition to Darius for Shield Guard, Reach, Magic Weapon and some focus efficiency (if you bring Harlan/PKs).

No, I didn't think I would need it thanks to the sustained attack on the centurion's piston spear. The focus then went to the stormclad who I was hopeful about maybe taking out Typhon.

Either way I should have just focused on typhon and tied up the angelius with the unpushable centurion.
