Over the past couple days, I've read a couple tidbits about the sculpting of the colossals that at first made me sad, thinking Hyperion was going to be last, and now have me kind of excited, because I think Hyperion might be the 4th colossal release, after the Kraken in August.
First was the Insider yesterday, where Ben says, "Of the three colossals I've had the fortune of sculpting, the Kraken was by far the most challenging." Then at the end of the blog he mentions going to continue work on the Galleon. This made me sad, because I figured the three he was talking about were the Stormwall, Conquest, and Kraken, so I concluded that since he's going to work on the Galleon next that would mean Hyperion would end up either last or 2nd last (meaning October or November). But something niggled at the back of my brain, and that was the fact that we've seen the 3D model for Hyperion already ... which I thought meant it was at least close to being ready for production.
Now, today I was browsing the comments on Lost Hemisphere's blog post from when we first found out about colossals, and I found this comment at the bottom, which gave me new hope:
The two models being the Stormwall and Conquest I can only assume, since they were the only two we'd actually seen models of at that point.Originally Posted by Jeff Wilhelm, February 3rd, 2012 at 3:57 pm
So, if Jeff sculpted those two, and Ben has worked on 3 colossals (Kraken, Hyperion, Judicator?) and is now working on Galleon that means the Hyperion is quite likely done sculpting already (depending on whether Galleon counts as one of the 3 or not). I'm pretty confident thinking that the Hyperion is one of the 3 he worked on, since we've seen the 3D model. This makes me happy, since it's more likely we'll see the Hyperion in September. Might still be October, but if Galleon is still being worked on I would guess that means it's last, which would be November if they keep up the one per month thing.
Now ... am I off my rocker, or am I on to something? Discuss!
