Default Brand New- Do I magnetize?

Hi guys, my 2 player Battle Box comes today and I want to get started on gluing and painting this weekend. I have never participated or even watched a minis war game (or painted a mini), so I am country fresh to this. I am trying not to get overwhelmed with all the info on painting. My question is: should I magnetize my first assemblies? Will I regret not doing it in a few months once I know what's going on? Right now, I haven't even read the rules yet, so I am not sure what customization or flavor magnetizing extremities even gives you yet. Thanks!

    Welcome Ben from MN,

Magnetizing is a skill to get right, especially if you have done zip cutting moulding etc before. If your heart is set on it have a look at the many toutorials on utube, ive recently magnetized about 5 khador heavies, you just havw to get your cuts.right to fit them up prolerlh. Have a look at the rules and the model weapon combinations, as WM/H is a wysiwyg game.
Read a lot, measure twice and magnetize away!

You will find that thw 2 player battle box only contains one set of weapons for each javk, if you want to field a different one, once magnetized, you can find bits on ebay or pp site.

    Good luck!

Wait, what? There's no weapon choice/alternate weapons in WM/H, right? There's just model choice. If you swap out some weapons on a heavy jack, it becomes a different heavy jack with a different card, and you can only have the weapons on that card. Right? I'm new, too, but I was under the impression that this wasn't like a 40k level of granularity--that **** drove me insane.

You are right. Most factions have a kit now that is just the 'heavy jack kit' or similar. This is a jack body with different arms/weapons to make them any jack of the faction. If you change the weapons, you get a completely different jack. There is no weapon swaps for the same type of jack. Only the stat for each jack is what you get. There are no mods for models. People magnetize the arms so they can use all the jacks for various lists.
    The internet grants me .

I magnetized my battle box when I first got it. Am I glad I did? Yes and no... Yes because I have 2 painted models and all I have to do is magnetize the arms for my new jacks and slap them on. No for the same reason... I have a Kodiak and a Maruader that are still unpainted because I just swap the arms... I looked into just buying arms, heads and cards for multiple jacks but in the end it just isn't fiscally worth it. I would say go for it if you feel like it, but don't think it will be saving you money. On the other hand... If you buy a multi-jack kit, then definitely magnetize.

If you're not comfortable magnetizing yet, but think you may in the future, I'd recommend Sticky Tac on plastic 'jacks. A little can go a long way (you don't need the blue gunk oozing out of the joints for it to hold), and the model is ready-to-play, and you can magnetize when you're ready.

Sorry maybe i didnt make myself clear in the previous post, writing from my phone and lacking the phonefu this morning...

By swapping out weapons on the same jack chassis you get a different jack, ie executioner axe and bombard = destroyer, open fist and ice axe = juggy.
True you cant select what weapons each jack has, it only allows you to choose which jack you want to field if you have several arm/weapon combinations available eg from the plastic heavy kits.

    Make sense?
