Hydra's Kinetic Capacitor and any FAQ's

Last night I was playing Ret against the Cygnar. My Hydra which had already one focus on it. He sent up a unit and hit the model with three of his guys. He said that I can get only two more focus because of the focus cap that jacks can have. I readed from the site battlecollege, that their is no limit for the Kinetic capacitor and the focus battery can hold them til I can use them. Which is correct and also is their a place where I can look up FAQ's for my army and other rules?

There is no maximum on how many points the capacitor can hold. The limit is on how many focus you can allocate to it (the normal 3 maximum). So if the capacitor is already holding 3 focus then you can not allocate it any more but it can still gain them through being hit by the enemy.

There is no offical FAQ that I am aware of only an errata, which is stickied at the top of this sub-forum.

The important distinction is that the Hydra does not get ALLOCATED focus, but rather GAINS one focus each time it is hit. A jack can only ever be allocated up to three focus (four if it is bonded), but it can GAIN as much focus as it likes or is capable.

PS: Even though in this instance it is correct, Battlecollege should not be relied upon as a final ruling or as a rules source in general. Please always keep that in mind.

Gaining focus/fury is a specific gaming term, as is allocating focus.

Note that Deathjack during his activation GAINS one focus for each Skull of Hate that isn't crippled, allowing him to have potentially up to 5 focus points.
Note also that Borka GAINS two fury points when the Keg Carrier uses top off.

Note that the Stormclad ALLOCATES a focus point when he benefits from accumulator with Stormblades.

To answer your question, every time the Hydra is hit by an enemy attack (including blast damage) then he GAINS a focus point (unless his G system has been crippled). As a result there is no limit (I once had 9 focus on mine and shot pIrusk to end the game).

cool. So the Hydra can have more then 3 focus on it if it gets hit.
