Default Command Check and free strike, which goes first?

So this query popped up the other day. I trampled over a unit, killing enough to make them take that command check for losing 50% in one turn but also the survivors were allowed to make free strikes as the Warbeast trampled past them.

    Which would happen first?

Isn't the trample attack simultaneous with the free strikes? I think they would take the check after the resolution of the trample (which would include the FS)

    I could be wrong

    The correct order of resolution:

    Pay focus/force
Pick and direction and move up to your SPD+3 (plus any other bonuses to movement you might have)
Resolve all free strikes for any models you moved past that your base didn't overlap
Make trample melee attacks against every model you base did overlap

It is entirely possible to lose systems/aspects or get wrecked/killed before you get the chance to make your trample attacks.

Both prior posters are incorrect. Page 56 of Primal:"Do not resolve free strikes against a trampling model during this movement.{...} Resolve free strikes against the trampling after resolving all trample attacks. Models contacted cannot make free strikes against the trampling model."
    Play.

The Trample rules explicitly state that all free strikes against a trampling model happen after the trample attacks have been resolved (cf. Prime, p. 56, second paragraph).

Since the check for massive casualties happens immediately (cf. Prime, p. 84), it will happen before any free strikes.

In a similar vein, if a model with terror/abomination moves past a unit and would take free strikes, would the terror/abomination check happen first or would the free strikes happen first?

When I first read the title to the post this is the question that I thought was being answered, so I posted the question here instead of starting a new thread.

This is the correct, and complete answer to the original question.

New questions should get new threads, please.
