Default Ravyn, 50 points of shooty goodness

So this is a 50 point list that a friend helped me come up with. Any advice and/or feedback is appreciated

    Ravyn +6
    Pheonix
    Pheonix
Mage Hunter Strike Force and UA max
    Stormfall Archers
    Stormfall Arhcers
    Sentinels and UA max
    Arcanist
    Arcanist
    pEiryss

I know the usual thought would be feat/snipe/go, but I am trying NOT to dwell on that. I feel most the players in my LGS know to stay out of that range.

I am by no means an experienced Ret player and there will be lots of other thoughts on you list - but first off if you have the model I would swap one of the Phoenix for Discordia.

    ^^^ what he said.

Yeah, that will really boost the survivability of your squishy units. If you are willing to buy a few more things, I'd think about changing pEiryss out for her epic version... although pEiryss on feat turn will make most warcasters very unhappy, eEiryss is useful against both warmachine and hordes. And I'd try to get Aiyanna and Holt in there to grant magical weapons and boost the damage output of all your shooty stuff.

I am almost inclined to say drop the sentinels and an arcanist for invictors for more shooty options and with a jack can hit almost as hard as the sentinels.

Well I played this list on Sunday in a Steamroller practice game. I played against Legion.
I made 2 changes. I swaped out a Pheonix for a Banshee and Eiryss for Narn. My opponent played eLylth, 3 Ravagores, their cav unit and solo, sheperd and their shooty unit ( similar to rifleman).
I won by scenario, but we decided to keep playing it out as a caster kill game. I took a lot of losses holding the control zone, so I didnt think I had a chance. All the AOEs made movement tricky for me. I was able to get Banshee around from the left flank to get to his caster with a boosted shot. I easily absorbed free strikes from his riflemen to get to her and finish her off. Ravyn didnt have to get her hands dirty.
So taking the Banshee turned out to be a great suggestion from the owner of my LGS. The Narn swap didnt go so well. He charged into the riflemen in hopes of taking out a few and sprinting back, but I failed the charge roll and only killed 1 and was still engaged to the other. He died next round.

The key to mastering Ravyn is learning to win without snipe feat and go, snipe feat and go is there to use if they give it to you and its the sometimes the only answer vs certain casters, but its by no means the only way to win. Its a trick you keep in your back pocket and the threat of it will dictate to your opponent how he plays, Having your opponent on the defensive form the start is generally a good state to be in.

As for the list. Get a Discordia that Jack is gold with Ravyn. Sentinels aren't bad with her as she can use VOM to give them psuedo pathfinder, but somone told me to try Nyss with Ravyn and I did and have never looked back. They hit a tad less hard then sents in melee, but having a second unit that ignores cover is awesome and the Disco can protect them and they don't need Ravyn's feat to hit.

So they can function on their own without much support. I would also get Lady Aiyan into the list in case you run into incorporeal or windwall.
Sig Changed at Ed's request, he's still my fav though.

eLylth should have demolished your list without barely loosing a model, it sounds like your opponent did some stuff Wrong. She is retributions's worth nightmare.

well in my friend's defense, he is new to Legion. after the game he admitted he should have been a little more aggressive in the early rounds.
