    Default E baldur list help

    Here's what I was thinking...
    E baldur +5
    Megalith 11
    Wold guardian 9
    Gnarlhorn satyr 8
    Shifting stones 2
    Blackclad 2
Druids of orboros + overseer 9

My thinking is that the gnatlhorn and the wayfarer will give the guardian a massive boost to his charge range, so he will be sent after anything heavy that I want dead. Megalith is there because he can heal baldur and he can also be given a huge charge range boost. Megalith will also be used to tie up high defense infantry, while baldur comes in to ground zero them. It also makes them crevasseable with a boost to hit. The druids will be used to either pull in charge targets or push things off of the nearly claimed objective. The druids will also be getting cover from rock wall. The satyr can also be used to tie up heavies and maybe even kill one if I'm lucky, but this guy will be used for his animus and his ability to slam objects off of control points. The stones are there because they're stones.
Any advice or changes I could make would be appreciated. Also, how do you normally use E baldur?

    You're 1 point over.

Trade the Gaurdian and blackclad for Ghetorix, and the Gnarlhorn and overseer for a Fulcrum

Was also thinking about taking out the gnarlhorn and adding two watchers and a wilder

    New list:
    E baldur +5
    Megalith 11
    Woldguardian 9
    Woldwatcher x2 6
    Shifting stones 2
    Druids orboros + overseer 9
    Gallows groves x2 2
Druid wilder 1 (for that extra one point)

Points still look a little wonky. Woldwatchers are 5 points.

Also I strongly recommend trying Ghetorix with eBaldur. The power of a Def14 Arm 20/22 beast with warpwolf hitting power is... terrifying. Especially when there's a rock wall for it to hide behind.

Watchers are 4 points; I have the card right here. I am seriously considering trying ghetorix, you're right, he's terrifying with E baldur

They also look wonky because I forgot to mention that this is his tier 4 list. Silly me

Are you 100% sure on this? It says in the book that they cost 5 at least and I seriously doubt it says 4 on the card (don't own any). For 4/3 they would actually be worth taking...

The woldwyrd is 5/3. The woldwatcher is 4/2 O.O

The only reason that I can create for taking them is that shield guard can come in handy. And they can sit on objectives pretty well

Woldwatchers are a five point model. They cost one point less in an eBaldur tier 4 list. Where are you getting your information from? Also, the Druid Wilder is two points.

I'm 99% certain that Watchers & Wyrds are both 5 points. With the tier 4 force, you get them at 4 points each if you take two - whoop-de-doo. Sure, on the feat turn you're looking at ARM 25(?) lights - but for what? They struggle to kill almost anything.

I've been running Baldur with his tier 4 list. It's actually pretty fun. I use Watcher to shield guard my Druids overseer & leader (to keep the bubbles going). With Baldur, they can be pretyt durable.

I have never once used the ritual. I've always camped tokens and used Megalith & Shifting Stones to heal the damage. The only game I "lost" was due to me using Crevasse wrong. I "won" the game but then forfeited to my opponent in embarrassment once I realized my mistake. To be fair, I hadn't played for a few months. But I should have known better.
The forums seem to have one of two responses to new models. (A) "This model is worthless, I'll never use it." or (B) "That model is over powered, it's going to break the game." A few models get both responses, which ends up being really hilarious.
But what's wrong with saying "This model is circumstantially good and it's up to me as a good player to exploit its strengths and minimize its weaknesses"?

Are you going off of the fieldtest pdfs? They're out of date, but the Watcher was 4 points in them.

Holy Molly the watcher is five. Makes them not worth it in my opinion. And the wilder is two. I guess I was looking at outdated cards on the inter webs.

I'm not a fan of Baldur2's Themed force. There's nearly no hitting power in it and I find more and more he does better in general with things like Ferals, Ghetorix, or a Warpwolf Stalker than he would wtih Wold Guardians, personally.

    And stuff.

    Here's a new list I've concocted:
    E baldur +5
    Megalith 11
    Ghetorix 11
    Druids + overseer 9
    Stones + UA 3
    Woldstalkers 5
    War wolf for 1 pt?

Would personally take a Gallows Grove for that one point left over. As slow as Baldur is, it's nice to be able to get that Roots of the Earth where you need it.

I like to fallow Ghetorix with it. He moves faster then the rest of the army, an is the most likely model to be at the edge of eBaldurs control area. Swamp Gobbers are also always worth taking.

eBaldur, the simples guide to list building....

    1 - eBaldur
    2 - Megalith
    3 - 2 x Shifting Stones
    4 - Other things

Good "other things" include: beasts, units, solos. Some stuff is better than other stuff but you cant go super wrong. Fulcrums, Ghetorix, and gators are all especially good with him and woldwatchers are suprisingly useful. Dont bother with woldwardens.

i use eBaldur alot, an if its just a one list thing take both ghet and mega. simply cos when u activate ghet first get him in combat then put RoE on him, thats a nice hard move target depending on ur areas meta. take bloodtrackers too an UA as there miles better then druids with eBaldur. an then for the last 5pts could go with extra shifting and LoF. this way u got alot way too clear path for baldur as he can VERY happily 1 shot casters. main thing is making sure his guarded well as under pressure he can take alot dmg with those tokens on him, an getting him or something else that can hit just as hard close enough for kill or objective.

How do people play E Baldur in competitive play? Do they sit on the objective and go for the assassination? Is he an assassination caster? He seems like it

@Grimloc180 - I might be a bit biased on such things, but hwat? Punctuation man, please. Unless you are on a phone, take a minute to things out a bit more. I might typo like crazy, but I try damn it. -_-

He's an attrition scenario caster. He can put force to protect his own zone and then put lots of preassure on the opponent to defend their own, I have found. This is especially all with a big threat of, "And I will kill you if I can get a line to you" to him.

    And stuff.

I am thinking he'll make a top hardcore because he can sit in his zone and threaten the other one for the scenario and eventually they will be low enough on models (You will be winning attrition) that Baldur can get in for the win.

If you play him: Ritual of Renewal is almost always the wrong move. Healing on feat turn and from megalith is enough. Stones can help late game.

EDIT: Almost forgot, he is going to improve a lot when the Shield Guard issue is fixed.

I like one of the better statements regarding his "delivery mecahnism". When he came out, his lack of one was frustrating to be sure. It appears, though, that it is, as I think someone on a podcast said (Crump?): inevitability. You have to kind of draw things out, but he has really strong ability to just with attrition and kind of Rope-a-Dope your opponent into burning resources to then have you go in and cut them in half.

    Kind of fun, really.

    And stuff.

I'd love to know if anyone is running Megalith / Ghetorix / eBaldur. That sounds like a pretty fun battlegroup and only costs 17 points. Roots of the Earth and Ornary on a token'd Baldur could be pretty brutal. ARM 20 and after you hit me, I'll hit you with a P+S 18 attack.
The forums seem to have one of two responses to new models. (A) "This model is worthless, I'll never use it." or (B) "That model is over powered, it's going to break the game." A few models get both responses, which ends up being really hilarious.

I have been running ghetto with Baldur 2. Baldur doesn't have the fury to waste on the animus sadly.

Ghetorix with eBaldur has been working well for extra damage + survivability. Haven't ever cast the animus on eBaldur, though; like LEJKaya, I don't generally find he has fury to spare. Maybe on feat turn, but even then it doesn't seem worth it.

I run eBaldur/Ghetto/Megalith/Gorax at 35 points with gators. Its monstrously tough, which was a novelty compared to circle's usual thing. However eBaldur is awful for order of actvations because Roots is a hard lock. Don't feat on your stones!

Why the Gorax? I thought the awesomeness of Ghettorix was that he didn't need a Gorax?

A gorax is pretty good with eBaldur anyway. Its not quite as durable as a woldwatcher but it can still do all the weapon lock stuff. Primal is still handy to have because, although you dont need it, the ability to push your mat/pow to pretty insane levels is a great option to have.

so far my best 35 pt list with what i have is: ebaldur, megalith stones and the warpwolf trinity. the idea behind it is to basically outlast the opponents alpha strike and then ghostly to their caster.

    That is 36 points.

Sounds like fun and I wanted to copy this, but it is one too many. And I would like Ghetorix somewhere...

This. Its not ideal, but with baldur not buffing damage, you can often need to go truly OTT to kill something vital. He's also a fury battery and a damn good 4 point light.

    This list is 35 pts-
    Megalith 5
    Feral 9
    Pure blood 9
    Stalker 10
Stones 2. Unless the trinity involves ghetorix, then it would be over. :P

ebaldur has 5 Warbeast points. :-(

    Edit, adding Question:

How do you all move baldur? Do you charge your own stuff and risk wrecking somthing? Do you teleport him by stones? Or are you satisfied by a normal advance?

Putting weight of stone on my own guys is not good

Most of the time, it's important enough to get him forward that he walks into shifting stones and they teleport him forward turn 1. I find normal advances leave him too far back to be properly effective. If I'm against something that's not going to shoot me to death at the bottom of 1/top of 2, and everything's running, Baldur will generally run into a set of stones. Gives him the option of another 9" move next turn, and even threatens a double teleport if I've got a second set hanging around.

..ok i guess i could replace the stalker with a gaurdian but that seems lacking in infantry killiness with just a pureblood.

The guardian animus will help baldur shrug off any range attacks. Roots is nice, but roots and flesh is just funny. Played last game vs ret and watched ossy feat battle engine rapid fire just bounce off baldur. Plus the thematics is amazing.
