Thumbs up Rok will be famous! You heard it here first!

    Hello my Kriel Brethren,

I have my Rok and Heavy War beast kit. Has anyone tried using the Extreme Mauler model and converting him to Rok? I don't have the extreme Mauler model yet but I'm trying to figure out how to bring Rok into the game. I've heard, since his kit is metal it's hard to magnitize him to the dire troll heavy kit. Is this true? I'm looking for best suggestions to make it work, not complaints.
    Cheers

I've accepted defeat. Any Scribes (problem solvers) see a vision to make this work?

What seems to be the main problem you are having?
So play like you've got a pair, or put down the metal and go find something made of plastic.

You may need to just give in and double-pin the arm.
How heavy is the axe hand?

I found two pins is plenty to bear the weight of the axe arm and the hole in the wrist should be filled with green stuff and then wet the pins and hand and seat them in the green stuff. Removed the hand let the green stuff cure and then the pins can hold the hand, even without glue or magnet.

I'm doing the Extreme Mauler - Rok conversion. Here's my work in progress:

This is the initial green-stuff stage. I need to go back in and do some sanding to smooth the transitions, then I'm going to sculpt some protruding rocks in the green areas to blend in with the patterns on the rest of his arms and body.

The main issue I had to overcome is that fact that the Extreme Mauler's hand/finger size is significantly larger than the Dire Troll plastic kit hands (and thus Rok's hands). Therefore I couldn't just swap the axe hand with the left hand of the Extreme Mauler. However, IMO the Extreme Mauler's hands are a little oversized compared to the arms and body, so the smaller hands actually look better in terms of scale. Also, I had to change the hands because the Extreme Mauler's hands are too tightly fisted to drill out and just slip in an axe (it would look really odd and make the fingers too thin).

Anyway, there you go - Extreme Rok. This is what happens when you try to give him light beer.

That looks amazing. The left handed axe works out a lot better than I thought it would. The open fist really sells it too, though I'm curious what it looked like closed.

I got my Rok together over the weekend myself. Metal itself isn't particularly hard to magnetize, but the ax is so large I was having a bit of trouble getting it to hold as well as I'd like and gave up on the idea. Decided I'd rather have 1 perfect Rok than a second bomber. Here's how he turned out:

The unfortunate casualty of this decision was a neat little bit I'd put together to be Rok's bomber hand. I have a picture of it, but forgot to upload it to a hosting site. I'll try to get it posted later, but its the Blitzer gunner whelp climbing up the hand to light the fuse.

I went with the open hand for two main reasons. First, the open hand felt a little more menacing to me, and since Trolls stand out among the Hordes factions IMO (in both the fluff and in game-play) by being more focused on open-handed antics and power attacks it just felt like the right choice. Second, I want Extreme Rok to stand out vs. the Extreme Mauler to an opponent even at first glance, and changing the raised hand from a closed fist to an open fist helps makes sure that my opponents immediately recognize the model as something other than the Extreme Mauler.

By the way, LunarSol - I love the belly you sculpted on your Rok and the way it makes him stand up straighter. It's a great look!

    I really like LunarSol's version!

Based on that mod I'm hoping Borka2 will give Rok "Guzzle": Rok may gain Silence after Snacking.

    Glad you guys like it.

FYI, joedj, Snacking already grants a kind of forced Silence. Snacking removes from play, so if you use it you fail to destroy a model, stopping Berserk.

Lunarsol: are you having any problems with your Rök standing up? I have his hand in a very similar position, and he's constantly falling over. I may need to grab a wreck marker to base him on, if only for the added weight.
