    Default Gator reinforcements

I love the gators and even though my first real game kind of went sideways and a few things didn't work out, I love the gators. I'm thinking about barnys tier list because I like tier lists. Mainly I'd like to know about the bog trog ambushers. Can anyone with experience playing them tell me how well they do? They look somewhat lackluster on paper but I imagine the ambush helps over come that

Bog Trogs are awesome but can be difficult to find room for because are you almost always taking 2 max Gator Posses. But Bog Trogs are fast, have Pathfinder, and Powerful Charge + CMA + back strike means they can take high-DEF targets fairly easily. Reach also allows them to tie up important enemy infantry, especially things like Gun Mages.

Also, if you use them as reinforcements, they lose Ambush. Not the worst thing in the world though - they are still effective.

I would pass on Barnabas's tier list though. It's not that great.

Trogs are better ambushers in steam roller tourneys than they are reinforcements. On some scenarios they can pop out on the ambush and kill a marker in 1 turn, that's pretty easy scenario points.

I haven't really solved the reinforcements mystery with Gators either, we have really wonky unit costs to make it work. At 35 you get 7 points, but Max posse (you wouldn't bring a min), is 9, our heavies are 8-9, bog trogs are better in the main list. Totem Hunter, Thrulgg, Croaks might be alright, but not ideal.

Tough nut to crack for me.

Your dead right phreaker187. For 7pts I'll be using min Trogs and 1 Croak Hunter. You feel like your wasting your reinforcement points no matter what with Gators

Another reason to keep bog trogs in your main list instead of reinforcements is for ambushing your opponent's reinforcements. If I'm not mistaken, typically half of the possible reinforcements deployment zone is on a table edge you can ambush from. Assuming your opponent's reinforcements stay within 13" of their deployment edge, ambushing bog trogs can come right in behind them and charge.

At 7 points, I think I might try bringing at least one bull snapper. It has enough threat range that getting a charge off as soon as it deploys isn't unlikely, and it shouldn't be too hard to get it into your control area for the next turn - and if you know you won't, load it up on fury when you first use it and let it frenzy, since a frenzying bull snapper isn't a whole lot different from a bull snapper in your control area making an attack. Just make sure you position your other reinforcements such that they don't become the frenzy target. long as you leave some enemy models . Worst case, you can just run it into your control area, and send the bull snapper in your main list out to kill something without worrying about losing your Spiny Growth animus

At 35 points, what about running three Croaks as reinforcements? You might get lucky and wind up with a caster/locke in your charge range. In that case, even if the first one misses, the second and third will get the gang bonus.

At 50 points, I personally would consider either a Spitter or Horror, along with either a Croak, Pendrake, or a a mix of swamp gobber gas passers and/or feralgeists.
