Atypical point games in Europe?

Hello,

I've recently moved to London and I've learned from some of the guys here that in continental Europe, some atypical game sizes have caught on in popularity. I noticed that Forward Kommander lists two German sizes (36 and 42). Is this true? What point sizes are used and why have you deviated from the typical 35 or 50 point sizes found in the States? I've very curious. Thank you for the information.

Ja, das ist richtig, wir verwenden zwei unübliche Spielgrößen, nämlich die erwähnten 36 und 42 Punkte.

After offering virgins to the dark forces of dice and table top gaming, namely Gamor, a great secret was revealed to them.
The size for this HMD shall be 42, for it pleases Gamor.

Ok, lets get serious. Games with 35 points were considered to be too small, while 50 points were considered too big.
So it was decided to play 35+7 points (which is also 6*6+6). Also it was chosen to prevent mindless copy&pasting of successful 50 point lists from other tournaments.

The 36 point size was a gimmick for an 666 event.

Wo finde ich Informationen zu Turnieren in der Zukunft? Ich komme im August nach Deutschland und wollte schauen ob irgendwas Groesseres irgendwo stattfindet. Um den Thread mal schamlos zu klauen. Sind die meisten Events auf T3 zu finden?

Eigentlich Mikal, Ich kann auf Deutsch reden und lesen. Ich habe ein gutes Stuck als Kind in Deutschland gelebt. Leider konnte Ich etwas Ubung gebrauchen, but hoffentlich wird Ich jetzt mehr oefters nach Deutschland reisen denn Ich in London lebt. Ich wirde gern Warmachine auf Deutsch spielen. :-)

A really great tournament will be the 666 in August (http://www.tabletopturniere.de/t3_to...t.php?tid=8961). But you should be really fast, because everyone wants to participate. If you're interested, ask Mootaz for informations about reservations for foreign players (there will be players from Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden,...).

Another interesting event would be the OETC. It's a Team tournament in Austria with teams from whole Europe and also from Australia. You should look for threads on this board for more information.

666 won't happen, right after our wedding, which I am going for to Germany. Too bad. OETC is in October sadly, not staying that long back home. Another time. Thanks for the information though!
