    Default Need some help tweeking my Kraye List.

    So I have an oddball Kraye list that I love. But I have been wanting to try and fit in a couple more things. Mostly I am wanting to push my Sword Knights from min to max. Here is the list and some options as I see them. Also I am trying to decide which caster and army I should use as a second list. I have made some list that I kind of like but none that I love like this one.

    Battlegroup 35pts.
    Kraye
    2x Hunter
    2x Stormcald
    Cyclone

    Units 13pts.
    Black 13
    Sword Knights (min)
    Stormblades

    Solos 2pts.
    Squire

    Option 1 : Drop the Cyclone down to a Minuteman, up the Sword Knights up to max and add Arlan Strangways. - This would cut down on some of my board control and infantry hate.

    Option 2 : Cut one hunter, up the Sword Knights to max, add Strangeways, and add another solo for two points. Not sure which one I would want. Maybe Lanyssa Ryssyll to mess with the other guys Pathfinder and Eyeless Sight and sometimes cast Hunter's Mark. - Not sure about cutting a hunter, because they seem to work better in pairs and it cuts down on my anti-armor with is what this list is kind of about.

    have you looked at maybe doing something like this.

    * Minuteman (5pts)
    * Sentinel (4pts)
    * Centurion (9pts)
    * Cyclone (9pts)
    * Defender (9pts)
    * Squire (2pts)
    Greygore Boomhowler & Co. (Boomhowler and 9 Grunts) (9pts)
    Lady Aiyana & Master Holt (4pts)
    Captain Arlan Strangewayes (2pts)
    Journeyman Warcaster (3pts)

    Im thinking of removing the boomhowlers for P alexia.

    While your list looks nice, that would be a major overhaul when I am looking for a minor change. Also I don't own the Boomhowlers. As my list stands it works just fine, I am more looking to squeak in a small amount of points.

    One thing I am reminded after reading some of the other threads in the Cygnar forums is that both list do not need to be all comers lists. I am thinking about cutting the Cyclone or the two hunters and adding in Ol' Rowdy to be almost a threat list. To show it to the other player to say "If you pick wrong I am going to over run you with nasty heavies."

    I kinda feel the 2nd Hunter should be dropped, but as much fun as having a Minuteman would be, it doesn't seem to fit into your list. Whereas Arlan will definitely help the Hunter, and bring repair back in. Plus you would still have 4 pts for A&H if you so wanted. Or bring the SKs up to max. Too bad you can't include Runewood for even more SK buffness w/ Reform.

    Honestly, it just seems like at the 35 pt scale, you can't have both Storm knights w/ dual Stormclads & full maxed out potenialized Sword Knights. Though I can see the benefit of fielding the cheap unit w/ Stormclads reach. Too bad we don't have a solo / UA that convert our Sword Knights INTO Storm knights.

    Personally I think your right on the money with the pair philosophy and leave the hunters as they are. What needs to happen though is the Cyclone and Stormblades become two minutemen, max SK and then solo to flavor (my preference would be arlan or rhupert since you already have the squire). The minuteman is another light jack that excels in pairs and can either dominate a flank - decimate a tarpit unit - or provide an assasination threat.

    I know your trying to avoid to much overhaul but at 50 I like Ol' Rowdy for one of those Stormclad's for focus efficiency and then gun mages w/ ua and rangers for my infantry.

    I would go with dropping the second hunter. Since you've already stated what the 4pts would be for the change I can suggest the following options, with any luck you'll like one of them.

    Gorman DiWulfe; The guy is just plain awesome for Kraye, the smoke cloud gives you a good place to hide against a large number of threats and do it where you want it. Gorman also provides both a damage buff against enemy jacks (though I have yet to use Rust myself I have seen it used to very good effect) and lastly there is black oil which is possibly one of nastiest things in the game.

    A pair of Stormgunners; I love these guys, even as just filler for stormblades. The extra body is worth it and the bonus to the unit's ranged threat is vast. Getting what equates to both a bonus to the unit's size and staying power and a couple of hand cannons (slighty better for the damage) is great. Not to mention the increased size of the unit means it becomes more reliable in its purpose as a focus battery for the stormclads.

    Victor Pendrake; I use him most in my Constance list but I've grown rather fond of this guy. He provides a handy buff to infantry against hordes and isn't a bad solo hunter with his bow but the real joy are his bolas which can be very nice against enemy jacks.

    Lanyssa Ryssyl; Another solo I use a fair bit and you even mentioned her yourself. My only problem with her is that hunter's mark is tricky to rely on and she's not that easy to keep alive. Winter's storm has one real issue which is the fact it's so situational to actually have any real effect. I have found her ice bolt to be rather good though and in particular against legion since their blasted serpentine heavies like the angelius can be made stationary even though they are immune to knockdown. This is almost reliable against them too due to vendetta.

    I would also consider dropping the black 13th for Aiyana and Holt if you are worried about denting armour. The damage buff is amazing for how it transforms our ability to wreck stuff but the other big pull is the ability to dole out magical weapons. This is something I've increasingly found important and being able to have a cyclone gun down machine wraiths before they get to me is incredibly good.

    I would probably go for Gorman to fill the extra 2pts after dropping the hunter and replacing it with the solos you suggested. He's so much of a toolbox.

    I think I am going to have to agree with you about Gorman.
