Question 35pt pStryker List - Help me Cygnar Faction Forums...you're my only hope.

First off, thanks for taking the time to read my post.

So a group of friends and myself (long time WHFB players) have finally made the jump into Warmachine and have been playing 15 point games for the last 2 months. Finally comfortable with the mechanics, we've all decided that it's time to move up to 35pts. I've grown to really like pStryker and EQ, so I'm going to stick with him for now, and have come up with the following list for 35 point games:

    pStryker
    Ol'Rowdy
    Lancer
Squire (Would I be better off dropping the Squire and taking Rhupert to boost the Stormblades?)
    B13
    Stormblades
    Storm Gunner x2
    Stormblade UA
    Stormclad

What do you think? Does this look decent for an all comers list to continue to learn the game and army with that will still be able to hold it's own???

Any suggestions, comments or advice that you might have would be GREATLY appreciated. I can use all the help I can get!

Thanks again for taking the time to look.

    Hi!

First, let me say, welcome to 35pts, and I hope you're enjoying Warmachine as much as many of the rest of us. I know that it has been the best table-top minis game that I've ever played, and I can't wait to play some more. (We used to play games made by "the other company" as well.)

Now for the list. Overall, I think it's both effective and nice. There are just a few areas of concern for your list overall. First, are you guys playing SR2012? If so, then I'm sure you know (will discover) that Scenario play is super important. Having ways to grab and hold scenario zones/points/objectives is key. Some Advance Deploy is very nice, though not necessary. There's a thread going on about that in the Community Section right now.

I think some people will argue that it's better to put the Stormclad on Stryker than have it marshalled. The reason is to be able to shake effects like KD and Stationary. If you're up against an opponent who can do that, you're throwing away a 10pt model. Personally, I think it's a toss-up, but I tend to agree that you may as well keep it on your caster.

Since you mentioned that you enjoy casting EQ, you'll want to keep as much focus as possible on Stryker, which means you may wish to consider dropping something for Arlan Strangeways. His Power Booster allows for your Lancer to run without using any of Stryker's precious focus. He's a great solo overall, and has a spray that he can use over-top of the Stormblades without worry.

I like your list. It's a fairly straightforward but effective list that brings quite a few powerful pieces to the table. The B13 will be key, as will the Pop'n'Drop tactic with Snipe on the Stormblades.

All the best, and nice name on the thread,

bStyker: Thanks for the reply! I've also been thinking of ways to get Arlan into the list and the only way I can think of fitting him in is by dropping the Squire. Is that a good trade off???

Here's what the list with Arlan would look like:

    pStryker
    Ol'Rowdy
    Lancer
    B13
    Stormclad
    Stormblades
    Stormblade UA
    Storm Gunner x 2
    Arlan Strangeways

The other thing I've been considering, is dropping the squire and one of the Storm Gunners for Jr. Not sure if that's the way to go or not though either...

Thanks again for the help. It's really appreciated.
