    Default WarGamerGirl YouTube Battle Reports

    Hello all:

My name is Miranda and I've begun posting some video battle reports on YouTube. I played some back in the Mark I days but really got back into the game almost two years ago and it's my favorite table top miniature game right now. The videos are between 15min to 42min each but I try to keep the pacing decent. Please check them out when you get a chance. Let me know what you think and please subscribe if you enjoy them =)

    New since last post:

    Khador vs Circle Orboros

    Older reports:

    Khador vs Trollbloods
    http://youtu.be/6guceOWNeo8

    Khador vs Cygnar (Battlebox report)
    http://youtu.be/sAiJcp9Y5WM

    Khador vs Scyrah
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCIAoJi5wwM

I apologize in advance that I make the mistake of not counting my 'jacks armor as 17 after reign of death. I thought that it only applied when melee attacks were used but I went back over the Devastator rules and sure enough I goofed.

    Khador vs Cryx

Very Nice reports. They were easy to follow, clear and everything was explained perfectly. My girls loved seeing a girl play the game too! They also liked seeing the dog, they wanted to know his/her name.

Slick and entertaining! This goes right to the top of resources I would recommend to people looking to get into the game. Maybe consider adding a little after-action commentary from both players of the "what went right, what went wrong, what I'd do differently" variety. The hit location graphics in the second report are really nice as well.

Gameplay notes: In game one, it seemed like Stryker would have had to cast Snipe on the Long Gunners before moving, since he needs line of sight to the Snipe target. Maybe he had it and I couldn't tell though. In game two, it looks like you forgot to roll your weapon master die when the Manhunter charged the Paladin. Great back-and-forth in both games, shame no one popped their feats in the first battle report though.

I've watched both of them, and I like the style. The cutouts before each turn are a nice touch. Keep up the great work!

Edit: Also gives a great role model/justification to my wife for my 6 y/o daughter to get into wargames! Thanks!

I liked seeing your dog in the first video ... so cute.

Stryker would have cast snipe on the Long Gunners before moving, aside from that note though, I enjoyed watching both your reports! I look forward to seeing more.

Very well done. Good work on editing the video and vocal summaries to show/describe just enough of each move and action undertaken so that we clearly see and understand what's happening, but are not bogged down with excess footage/information. I agree with R.J. that a segment at the end looking back on the game would be a good addition. Looking forward to more.

Really awesome battle reports. I like the production that went into it top to bottom. Also great for showing newcomers how the game works.

    Keep them coming!

Great job, with obviously well thought out editing and planning of shots. Keep them coming and you'll develop a very good following in no time.

Great videos, the pacing an explanations were excellent. The graphics in the 2nd video were a great touch.

One small recommendation would be perhaps try to give "full board" glimpse after deployment to give a sense of where everything is in relation to both one another and the terrain elements. Minor, just a thought.

    Keep 'em coming

2 favours I would like to ask you, but I can't offer anything in return:

    1) Do not ever forget fire on the vanquisher. It is what makes it so good even on blastdamage.
Second also has to do with this:
    2) Do not forget to bring choir when using this many jacks!!! it is what makes the jacks work very good and should therfore never be forgotten

the points can be found by removing the UA and just using the TFG to shield severius. Also remember the controlradius of 16. no need to get too close to the action with that radius...

as to the khador lists I like them. the marouder is a bit iffy as a choiche, but it gives some options. The second list IMHO is better for sorcha. the destroyer does not require 2 focus (although it likes them) and the WGI and kovnik joe will keep most infantry from the opponent at bay. the widowmakers and marksmen are extremely good at taking out 1HP troops and will stay alive well enough in terrain.

in any case very nice report, a lot of info given and the healtbars are perfect. (although I wonder how you will go about the beast spirals

Just watched game 1, very beginner friendly rep explaining the what's and how's underway. Neat and easy to follow.

    Cygnarian questions:
    1. charger fires twice? doesn't that cost it a focus? (or can jack marshalled jacks fire more for some reason?)
    2. Setting a focus free Ironclad BtB with 2 Khador heavies? Now that's optimism

Nice battle reports! Will be eagerly waiting for the next one!

One thing though. In the second battle, how did that Revenger run while it's movement was crippled?

Jack Marshals can use their marshal 'point' to let a jack make an extra attack. Since the charger hadn't boosted an attack or damage roll, it was able to use Jack Marshal to buy its second shot.

There are girls that play Warmachine!?!!!

    *head explodes*

I am a little confused as to why it is just you moving models around though. Are you playing by yourself and have no one to play with or something? If so, I am saddened...

I am saddened you think my arms are so hairy...

I am playing against another person in these battle reports. I try to keep my focus on the miniatures and the table because I think it's easier to follow what's going on. If I keep cutting to the people playing, it breaks the pacing (not to mention the small bit of immersion).

This is, of course, just my opinion and my style. I do appreciate your feedback however.

I could tell you were playing against someone else. I really appreciated that you did NOT feature the players and focused primarily on the battle. This made the battle easier to follow and improved the overall report in my opinion.

Although I like to get to know the people playing through the video, i.e.Blog and Beatfreak, the way these are done in a roleplaying/story format are very refreshing.

Far and away the best thing for me is the clear pronounciation with the narration, as someone whose hard-of-hearing I often struggle with the narration of video battle reports, but I was able to listen to the progress of your reports whilst typing in other tabs, which is nice for me!

Please keep them coming, I need my supply of video battle reports!

Very nicely done! I like watching the game progress as if I'm there spectating - too many video batreps speed up movement/dice rolls or skip it entirely. I understand this can add to the time of the video but the context is important. I also liked the card damage overlay (for similar reasons).

I look forward to seeing more, particularly 35pts+ matches.

Loved the production and quality of the video. It was really easy to follow and you can really feel how the game was played. However watching the Lists used and tactics used by the players was very very aggravating. I know this is an issue of: I wouldn't have brought that unit or focused on that unit. I was shouting at the screen when the Cygnarian player devoted the whole unit of gun mages (8 points) to a manhunter(2), while the Khadorian jacks and Winterguard where pushing for stryker and dont get me started on the marshalled Charger, but thats just me. I don't know how much time you've been playing the game and I if you guys had fun, I guess thats the more important thing. Still, I hope to see more videos.

Now that is some good batreping there keeping the focus on the game at hand (besides the little inclusion of your dog in the first one ) is exellent, lets us stay in tuned as to what's happening Exellent work, keep 'em comming

Very well done and I hope to see more. I liked the addition of the graphical overlays in the second one and would suggest that, if it's not too much trouble, you add overlays for whatever effects are on the unit being used when dealing with the unit actions. I kept wondering why the Khador didn't make a terror check against the flameguard with the UA until I remembered that you said early on that they were granted fearless along with tough. A very minor quibble, though.

    Can't wait for more.

These are some of the best battle reports on the web! Keep it up!

Rules question: why did your destroyer roll 4 dice for damage when shooting the revenger in game 2? You got one extra die from boosting, where did the other one come from?

    Cheers,

Ah yes, I rolled a different colored die (the white one) to show the location of the damage.

Nice one, but did you forgot the ? It seems that none of your mins ever burns, the Vanquisher has on his ranged weapon. The Manhunter has 4d6 on his charge-damage-roll. Keep it up and have fun.

Those are some of the best battle reports i have seen. Everything is explained clearly. I love the graphics and the incompotech music. My only gripe is that i don't know if it's a good idea to do video battle reports in your pajamas (first vid) although you seem to have realised this before video 2.
    I hope to see more.
I also love the commentry from the khador perspective .

Thanks for the battle reports, they are very well done. The music was good but not too loud, your voiceover was clear and understandable and the pacing kept the action interesting. I liked the graphics in the second report. Some videos you can't hear anything as either the speaker(s) is mumbling or there is too much background noise. Thanks for all the hard work!

I thought these were very well done battle reports, I have the Khador half of the 2 player box that no one will use because they say sorshca is a bad caster and now I can show them how you used her and can maybe get some use out of the half. I thought ( like everyone else) the graphics added to the second video were fantastic.

I am wondering however on the experience level of you and the people you play with? ( I am just starting out so I am watching battle reports to see a game played with the rules rather then just reading them) So I can learn a thing or 2 from your videos because they are easy to keep up with.

I stand by it, Sorscha is an amazing caster. She just needs a good army for it. You need to make your opponent expose that one weak turn and then BAM, sorscha to the face
